If this is a recent thing it could be spring fever. Even spayed / neutered bunnies can act hormonal during the start of spring.
I’m not sure how hard the nips are. Storm tries to get away in a hurry whenever she gets nipped but Thumper rarely pulls fur. I’ve been having a some large gaps between sessions due to it being winter and I tend to not have a lot of energy during winter.
It does sound like they are nipping through the bars but can’t do any harm to each other. The thumping might be a “good riddance” to the other bunny or they might be mad that the other bunny is gone, it’s hard to tell. The infamous bunny dump ground in Las Vegas is being dismantled. I believe over 75% of them have found their way into a no kill shelter. Small Pet Select donated a van to help ferry all of the bunnies across the country.
How large is Mylo? If you do it right, a large sandwich baggy full of their old food is enough to safely transition them to the new pellets. And for what it’s worth, the bunnies at my local shelter end up having their pellets switched abruptly quite frequently(based on what people donate to the shelter) and I have never seen them have issues with…[Read more]
