    Rabbits do not “go into heat” or have “cycles” – they ovulate when mated, so can get pregnant year round and even directly after pregnancy (hence, breeding like rabbits).

    What you are describing with the building a nest and tending to it is called a false pregnancy. Intact female rabbits can have their instincts triggered (usually by close contact with a male, such as being able to scent them) and pull fur/build nests and do everything they usually would do if pregnant. It’s very stressful on them, but I am unsure how to prevent it without a spay.
