RABBITATS

CAGE/PEN SIZE MINIMUM: According to the House Rabbit Society, should be at least 4 times the size of your bunny – more if confined for large amounts of time each day. (Rabbits should get a LEAST three hours a day of free exercise time)

CAUTION ABOUT CUBES & ZIPTIES: Some of the cubes now being sold have larger 3 inch grids instead of 1 inch grids. The larger grids are NOT recommended and are considered dangerous as a rabbit can squeeze their head through these larger grids and get stuck. ONLY USE THE CUBES WITH THE 1″ GRIDS.

When using zipties, be sure to have the tie wrap ends face the OUTSIDE of the cage so that if you accidentally miss one, it does not cause eye injury to your bunny. (This has happened!)

SUPPLIES:

  1. I found my “Organize it” cubes at Target (I have only found them at the physical stores, not online) NOTE: Some Targets are no longer selling the frames that have the 11/2″ grid mesh. My understanding is that the mesh size is now 3″. That is too large and can be dangerous for rabbits and other small animals. Be sure to check this before purchasing the “Organize it” Cubes.

I know that we bought four boxes to make a huge condo. NOTE: You can’t build it with just the supplies in the box. You’ll need to secure with zipties and possibly other types of support depending on your design. But it’s still a cheap price for an awesome habitat. See below for building instructions.
