It is very normal to be concerned about spaying, and ultimately you’ll have to make the decision. Hard decisions are a part of pet ownership. But here’s what I can tell you:

We have had many many many members over the years who have spayed their bunnies with no complications. It isn’t without risk, and you need to have a good vet, but in general…[Read more]

Agreed that there is no benefit in trying to have them interact/bond/be together at this point. A bond working is not contingent on whether or not they meet at this phase, but if they get into a nasty fight, that can make bonding challenging once they are fixed (in addition to potential pregnancy).

Sorry your text didn’t go through the first…[Read more]

Hello, my bunny has been active and happy this morning so I decided to pick her up, not far off the ground (I’m on my knees), and give her a soft hug (I do that a lot). But today when I did she “coughed?” I don’t know, it sounded like a single cough. She is still acting fine but it was abnormal. Is that normal?

I have 2 bunnies, Carrotina and Parsley (both female), who are almost 18 months old. I made so many mistakes when I first got them, including not knowing about spaying. They have been bonded from birth and never really harmed each other even though they are not spayed. I worry so much about them getting cancer because of it, but I am convinced of…[Read more]

Ahhh! @Azerane!  I’m terrified of snakes so I probably would have fainted or something. Even if the snakes weren’t poisonous! I seem prone to crazy experiences like that… I guess I’m just accident prone! Like the time I laid my phone face down on a rock and sat on it. 🙄 I guess thats just more me being a dummie though… And yes, it broke…[Read more]

At this point I would just keep them separated until they are both castrated. You don’t even really need to worry about switching cages yet, living side by side is fine, because they will smell very differently to each other once they hit puberty and then again once they are neutered/spayed. Do be EXTRA sure they can’t get to each other, because…[Read more]

Thanks for your prompt repy…my text did not come through I guess but I think you have answered my enquiry.

“I recently got two young bunnies. Female is 8 week and male just a few days younger. I got them the same day and kept them in adjoining areas , alternating living quarters a number of times daily. After 2 days I tried them together in a…[Read more]

Thank you for rescuing this bun!

I agree that a “sanitary shave” from the vet would help get his coat on track (a vet check up would prob be a good idea anyway given his history).  As a rule you don’t usually want to remove any fur from the feet, but if you are working on the mats yourself, try pulling on the sides of them. That often will help…[Read more]

Baby rabbits will often get along with other rabbits easily due to the lack of hormones facilitating territorial aggression, dominance assertion, and mating urges– however, this does not mean that it is recommended to put baby rabbits together. Firstly, the likelihood of mis-sexing baby rabbits is high, so separation is needed to avoid accidental…[Read more]

I do not have personal experience with lionhead grooming, but this may have some helpful resources for you: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Angora_and_Other_Long_Haired_Rabbits
It is not recommended to bring a rabbit to a pet groomer because they often conflate experience with dogs/cats with being OK with rabbits, and that is… well, a disaster…[Read more]

Agreed that it may be from bonding scuffling and to simply keep an eye on it for now to ensure it is healing in an expected way– so no swelling, growing, pus, oozing, etc.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Is this flower eatable? in the forum DIET & CARE 4 years, 10 months ago

I can’t readily find anything on this flower specifically, but here is a list of known toxic plants: https://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Toxic_plants

A cursory search suggests Black-eyed Susans are often destroyed by wild rabbits, so I imagine it is not highly toxic or they wouldn’t keep going to it.. but rabbits are not the brightest either.

Hello! I adopted the sweetest little cuddly bun from an old lady who wasn’t taking the proper care of him. This was NOT a breeder or anything like that. I saw her ad on my classified section, apparently her daughter moved and had to leave the bunny with her and she thought she could take care of him but couldn’t. He’s four years old, she…[Read more]

I saw a video on Instagram recently of someone feeding their rabbit a Black Eyed Susan/Rudbeckia hirta and I know people don’t always show the best care of their pets on Instagram so I was just wondering if that flower is safe for bunnies.
