haha! They certainly can be confusing little creatures. Rabbits can be very smell oriented, so perhaps something just smelled weird that day. Glad to hear they are back on track!

Sometimes bunnies poops will vary in size throughout the day. My rabbits tend to sleep most of the day, so they will have smaller poops in the afternoon because they haven’t been eating as much. Does that seem like what you’re seeing?

For the cecals, do you notice that she eats some but then leaves a few of the little pieces? Or does she leave a…[Read more]

Awww thanks for the update! That’s so sweet he’s starting to bond with you. Getting a companion for bunny bonding is great, and I think especially good for rabbits that might spend more time alone, but yes even if they are both males they will need to be neutered. Un-castrated bunnies will not get along because their hormones make them very…[Read more]

If he isn’t eating hay normally, you should keep up the critical care. Greens are mostly water so they don’t provide the nutrition the bun needs, but CC has things to help get the gut functioning normally. It does sound like the first antibiotic threw off the balance in the gut. I think trying a probiotic could help if you haven’t already. I also…[Read more]

I’m not sure what hay has fuzzy seed plants in it either. I would try getting the hay you normally use and stop using this hay to see if it is allergies.

The hay I used before was a ‘clover, timothy hay, orchard grass, and fescue mix’ according to the farmer. I have no clue what the new hay is, but I see some fuzzy seed plants… I don’t know that that is.

What hay do you normally give them? People with hay allergies typically react to timothy more than orchard hay. So that might be that case, it would be odd if you were sick because it gets worse around the hay but it is always a possibility.

Glad to hear you guys are doing good. Rabbits love to have friends, but they would need to be spayed/neutered.

Friday I was around 2 people for several hours who were coughing and sniffling all over me. Sunday I found mystery hay by the side of the road in great condition, my dad gave the buns some and I messed with it, stirred it around. Within 1 or 2 hrs. I got a sore throat. I don’t have a sore throat anymore but I am congested, and it gets worse when I…[Read more]

Untreated or pine that has not gone through a certain drying process is not recommended for rabbits to chew on. I looked on their website and it is untreated pine, but that doesn’t mean that bunnies can’t use it. I would just take it out if they are eating an unsafe amount. Facebook marketplace might have one for less money. Also on etsy, there…[Read more]

My only concern is that the one I looked at was made of pine. I thought rabbits couldn’t chew on pine and I know that Oreo would chew on her bed if I got her one.

Alright, Buns are very confusing, lol.  Thank you for the advice, I did clean everything thoroughly but left the location the same, same time and everything to see what would happen. They were little angles. No nipping, no mounting or anything that would be bad. They ate their hay together, flopped and explored. With some grooming standoffs but…[Read more]

Hi, as some of you may remember, i wrote about my bunny gaining weight even the diet was still same.

We have lowered the amount of pellets per day to probably 12grams of pellets, 100 grams of leafy greens per day and unlimited hay.

My bunny started to lose a bit of weight which is perfect. But I have problem with the droppings.

    She has normal…[Read more]

His teeth have been checked. He does have stage 1 gum disease. But I believe he is not in dental pain as he is eating, no grinding. Vet said eating hay would prevent it from progressing.

-Before his gut stasis he never had mushy poop. All started after starting his first antibiotic enrofloxacin. When I finished the dose he was still having mushy…[Read more]

I’m really sorry that your boy’s bond broke. 🙁 That is really sad and stressful. Unfortunately this is really common when bunnies are litter mates and are not neutered before their hormones really kick into gear. Babies don’t form true bonds, so when they hit puberty there can be problems. Before you rush to bond them with other bunnies, just…[Read more]

Hey guys, so for anyone who cares for an update, we are getting along better and better, he will even try to push his head through his play pen to get pets. He will even lick me! I was hesitant for awhile, still kind of am, since i thought he was trying to bite me since he still grunts sometimes, or moves really fast, if i move something in his…[Read more]

Have his teeth been examined? That could be the root cause of the stasis episode and could be affecting his slow recovery. Hay is very important for the gut microbes to establish correctly and for the functioning of the cecum.
