I agree with Dana that a rabbit smelling and being dirty is unusual if the rabbit is healthy and the litterbox is being cleaned regularly. I am also curious about your routine and cleaning method.
Also, is he neutered? Unfixed rabbits can leave more fragrant droppings due to oils from marking.

Thank you for all of your advice. I would prefer to get a pet sitter but we don’t actually know how long we are going for so it could be longer than a month. For that reason I would not want to leave them and it would be extremely expensive to pay for a petsitter for that long.
So I shouldn’t actually take them out of the carrier at all? Should I…[Read more]

I’ve had my rabbit for a short while now, and was wondering if taking the bun in the car for short periods of time help ease them into driving? Soon enough we will have to take him to the vet and such and was wondering if going around the block in the car, then slowly taking longer trips can help him get used to driving? The only time we have…[Read more]

He is most likely going through bunny puberty, and after the surgery his hormones should be calmed down, and while he may not go back to exactly who he was before, his behavior will definitely change for the better. Keeping him in a pen for a few days should be fine as long as he has room.

I am fostering 3 lionhead bunnies.
All 3 are girls from same litter.
Need to know best brush/comb type to use on them.
These poor ladies are so matted I will have to almost completely trim them down.

I use a metal rack that is meant to hold spare toilet paper rolls. I’ve also seen people use similar looking racks meant to store plastic bags. I just use a clip to attach it to the side of the cage.

Hello all. New to the group and new to bunny motherhood. Here’s my dilemma-
We brought a bunny home about a month ago and for the first 2.5 weeks it was smooth sailing. Then, what seemed like overnight, his personality changed. He was lying on my lap on the couch and out of nowhere, bit me. Like really bit me. He latched on and wouldn’t release f…[Read more]

There really shouldn’t be a lot of odor or pee staining with any litter if you clean the litter box regularly. How often do you clean it? Is it possible he has a medical issue and is urinating on himself?
I use pine pellets with a layer of hay on top, and dump the whole thing every other day, and there really isn’t any odor to speak of.
Litter…[Read more]

I’ve had my bun for two years. He’s a good boy. Always uses his litter box. But over these two years, I’ve noticed that no matter how many times I clean his litter box, his room still smells. He was also getting yellow footprints on my carpet and I noticed his hind legs/bum were very discolored and matted. I’ve had four different litter boxes and…[Read more]

I have recently started worrying about my bunny Doki. He is approximately 8 months old, and we adopted him a few weeks ago. I’ve started wondering if he is underweight. He has a dent at the bottom of his stomach and near his leg. I can feel the bones of his legs if I touch them in the right spots, but no bones anywhere on his body are visible. His…[Read more]

I wouldn’t recommend setting up a pen a rest stops, they would likely be very scared and could escape. Rather, I think you would just want to take a lot of breaks to make sure they eat and drink, because a lot of rabbits won’t eat in a moving car. But, some get used to it and start eating, and eventually will sleep.
I know some members here have…[Read more]

Just fyi if you anyone (guilty) bought a tiny hay rack online or from a pet store in haste…. if it’s wooden, you can actually knock every other bar out and it’s usable. I have alfalfa hay hanging in that one, and I use a wooden wine box for orchard hay. I put paper litter in his litter box towards the back, and a handful of timothy up…[Read more]

I know it is a very long time. I would much rather leave them at home but I feel that it is way too long to leave them. I was definitely planning on feeding them and giving them water throughout the trip. Should I give them critical care or just mush up some food and put it in a syringe? I am going to bring some of their favorite treats along so I…[Read more]
