Hmmmm, with my cat I try to discourage him from going into the buns area (mostly with a squirt bottle…). He will occasionally go in to try to eat some hay or sleep in there, but usually leaves the litter box alone as long as there is hay on top.

Bunnies that lose their bondmate can often times become depressed. But the fact that he’s eating and pooping normally is a good sign. Would you be able to get him another friend? Do you have a shelter near you that would let you speed date?

There aren’t usually vets who advertise as “rabbit dentists”– it’s more so a rabbit veterinarian who is experienced with rabbit dental procedures. Since dental problems with rabbits are common, the chances of finding one is usually pretty good. A good strategy may be calling up vets and asking what dental procedures they’ve done and how often.

That should work. It might get stinky pretty quickly and be a bit messy to clean, but overall it’s totally safe and ok. You’ll just have to clean it a bit more

Yes, my cats litter box gets cleaned daily. I also use aspen shavings for the litter with a grid on top. Yet, she still used stitch litter box to urinate in it.

Glad your girl’s spay went well!  Speed dating is nice but not essential. Sometimes a good speed date still means you spend months bonding! Are they not doing speed dates due to Covid or RHDV? Or both?

Is your cat’s litter box clean? If you don’t clean it daily, that might be part of the problem.

If you add a litter box screen and/or a layer of hay on top of the bunny litter that should also deter him.

I’m glad you found a likely culprit for the issues, hopefully removing the broccoli and cabbage will solve the problem!

Romaine is actually very good for buns, your vet was probably referring to iceberg. Romaine and other types of “fancy” lettuces are fine and healthy (red leaf, etc.).

Does shredded paper work? I’m not shredding newspaper, just the typical paper, and it would just be one box of paper shreds, then I was going to go back to their old litter.
