For the spraying issue, they make dog blankets that are supposed to be pee proof, you could get something like that to line the bottom of the x-pen. I have seen pet pens with clear barriers, can’t link here, but if you search on amazon for resin pet yard fence you should see some examples (the one called EXPAWLORER Pet Playpen for Puppy – Plastic…[Read more]

Bernard2020 started the topic Dosage for Simethicone? in the forum DIET & CARE 6 years, 2 months ago
Bernard is having some more gas issues. I bought “Little Remedies Gas relief drops” but I’m having trouble with the correct dosage. The syringe they gave me goes up to 0.6 mL, I gave her 0.9 mL. I read this “Pediatric Simethicone 1cc (20mg/ml suspension) can be given orally as often as every hour for 3 hours and then 1cc every 3-8 hours.“…[Read more]

Just to be clear I am very much a adopt don’t shop person, and would not pick a rabbit just for it’s breed… I don’t even know what Dorian is. The shelter just called him a rex and wasn’t sure if he was a mini or not… I think he is a mini, but not really a rex from what I have read.
That said I do like looking at all the fancy variations. I…[Read more]

@Louiethebunny – Your Louie is such an elegant rabbit! I am also fully blaming you for the monster you have released 😉 Dorian and I are having too much fun with the account. I think my friends and co-workers are happy not to be constantly spammed with look at another cute photo of Dorian. Though a couple have joined for more, so it seems they…[Read more]

Since he was so used to being outside, could you give him a smaller area to exercise in for a few hours a day when weather permits. If in a smaller area it should be easier to lure him back in a carrier? It sounds like he was pretty much feral, and now being around people may be a big adjustment to him too. You will probably need to gain his…[Read more]

Sometimes it is a good bonding day, with few tiffs, and less pee, other days it can be a not-so-good bonding day, with more tiffs and pee. At one point they were doing great in neutral territory, so I moved them into semi-neutral, and, well instead of cuddling and grooming, they were tense and territorial, chinning objects they came across. So I…[Read more]

@Wick: Ha, Ollie does that, too. I call it “anger peeing.” It only happens occasionally, but it has a certain defiance to it when it does happen.

I’ve been able to find some spay+neuter clinics for cats and dogs, but I haven’t been able to find any close by (under an hour away) that mention anything about buns. I’ll look around to see about payment plans as well. I believe the vet 2 ish hours away from us (that my closest bun rescue uses) offers payment plans and such, though I’m not sur…[Read more]

He’s not currently molting, but he did just get over a molt. I cut back on his pellets this morning and his poops seemed when I checked, but I will definitely cut back on pellets and treats! We are also done traveling for a while so hopefully all of that combined will help his tum to start feeling better. Thank you so much for your reply!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well!
I just purchased a NIC grid cage kit off of amazon (I’m not sure if I’m allowed to give a direct link, so I won’t include one to be safe), and I’m looking forward to putting it together for my rabbit Leo to live in. I am looking mostly for some inspo, is there anyone with NIC condos / grid setups that…[Read more]

@HipHopBunny : Thanks, I’ll let you know how it goes. 🙂 The stunt double is often used before the rabbits even have any face to face meetings (in case there’s any major aggression, they can take it out on the double), so I think you could try that out right away if you want. It might help smooth things out. In my opinion it’s always best to…[Read more]

6 years is not too old for surgery. Provided the rabbit is healthy and you have an experienced vet, the risk isn’t higher than with a younger rabbit. Especially considering that a neuter is much less invasive than a spay for example. Costs can vary greatly depending on location, I paid less than $100 for my guys neuter, and that was at a high end…[Read more]

He still has some hormones going around, which is totally normal post-surgery. You might just have to bunny proof a little more until his hormones settle down in a few more weeks.

I am a huge music lover and a musician, my Louie doesn’t seem to mind my loud music playing from my Alexa, and he just chills out. When I take out my viola to practice, he comes and sits by my feet while I play. It really depends on the rabbit, but calm music shouldn’t really freak them out.

I’m not sure about Canada, but where I live, neuters at the vet are 200-500 dollars at the high end, but some shelters actually offer great deals, my local shelters has a spay+neuter clinic that only charges $90, so that’s a good option to look for around your friend’s area. Painting sheets might work, but anything made of plastic is pretty unsafe…[Read more]
