Stressing can really help in situations like that. I have had good success with car rides (have someone else drive so you can monitor them). Having them in a bin on top of the washing machine can work well too.ย  Will Velvet calm down with petting? Petting whenever she sees another bun or another bun approaches may help a lot too.

Agree with Hazel, any combo is possible! Some buns do seem to have preferences but it is more about personality, and most pairs are possible, even if some take longer to bond than others.

Thank you! I’ve even been seeing accidental litters on craigslist where all the baby does have gotten homes and the bucks haven’t ๐Ÿ™ All I really want is to get a friend for Louie that works well with him, glad to know he has a chance with other males too!

Same sex bonds work just as well as male/female. It doesn’t depend on the gender as much as on the personalities. Although you could argue that female/female could potentially be harder, since females are naturally more territorial. I had a male/male pair, they bonded with no help from me (because I didn’t know what I was doing ๐Ÿ˜† )

I’ve been seeing many (mostly male) rabbits dumped on craigslist and in shelters, and I’m wondering if a male would be a suitable friend for Louie? I’ve been starting to get serious about getting him a friend and want to begin planning in case we find a match soon, and I’ve been looking for mainly girls, but there are lots of surrendered boys too.…[Read more]

I’m so sorry, how heartbreaking. ๐Ÿ˜ฅย  Reese was a beautiful girl, and one of my favorite BB bunnies. Sending you lots of hugs.

@jerseygirl : Thanks for mentioning Mr Bigglesworth, I hadn’t heard of him. He’s amazing! ๐Ÿ˜€

Agree with Wick 100%. Don’t worry about the hierarchy thing, it doesn’t apply to you because Luna knows you’re not a bunny. And even if she didn’t, you don’t want to get into a poop war with her, it’ll get awkward.

@jerseygirl I do know Mr Bigglesworth ๐Ÿ˜€ (Well not personally, but have seen him on instagram).ย  & I was reading more on the Belgium hares and I think you are right, I just started following a couple on instagram and they appear very energetic. They do seem affectionate with their owners though, though sometimes hard to tell from a few…[Read more]

I am sorry to hear that @Bahar . I hope Happy is fine, it sounds like she isn’t in any discomfort and has her appetite, all good signs ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Maybe someone else more experienced in buns can give some more things to look for.

Unless there is something I haven’t come upon, aside from raisins having a lot of sugar (aka being a very nice treat), there’s nothing toxic nor dangerous about consuming them. There are definitely cases where a rabbit gets its hands on an open treat jar, bowl of fruit, etc.. Unless there are signs of GI distress, it’s likely OK and he just has…[Read more]

As is often the case; my inaugural forum post does not come in especially pleasant circumstances. I’m pleased to say that in a lifetime of owning rabbits this is the first occasion upon which I’ve had something quite like this happen, so I’ll count myself lucky on that note.ย

One of the treats that (infrequently) I offer my buns are raisins.…[Read more]

Thankyou for your reply. Actually we don’t have any vet that knows about rabbits in my area or my surrounding area. The place where the vets are somewhat good is far away. The vets here get angry if I ask anything or point out any fault of theirs. They hold the bunny by their back skin and mishandle the bunnies. I am sure if I take Happy to them,…[Read more]

Have you noticed the tumors grow at all? Tumors & lumps are scary, but there are many that are pretty benign, we tend to be more likely to get them as we get older… some people or animals are more predisposed to them. If they are not growing, or they are growing a bit then shrinking back I think Happy will be okay. I am not a vet or Doctor, just…[Read more]

<p style=”text-align: right;”>Hello, I noticed today that Rain had some odd, white flaky stuff on the back of her ears. Is this dry skin that I should clean off, or ear mites? ย  I tried googling this and found something called โ€œwalking dandruff.โ€ Also if this is mites what should I do? ย </p>

I was petting Happy and felt something something like a few small marble balls (3 or 4 or may be 5) stuck together like a garland in his stomach (on the right side) around the mid of June.
And on the left side there is something hard just beneath the ribcage. It’s not normally felt, only when seen very minutely.
If he stands or sits I can only…[Read more]

The main issue is that no matter the space velvet attacks once she sees the other rabbit. When they share any space. But with a barrier (where they could possibly nip) with buttons she doesnt nipbor fight she will flop next to his pen.
