Partial success today: After two tries, Louie let my pick him up and hold him, I didn’t hold him for long, but he got lots of pellets and head pets.

Thanks @Louiethebunny, that helps to hear ! He was doing binkies and came up and gave me licks so seems fine and like all is forgiven on his side (I still feel bad about it). The bleeding has definitely stopped too as he was on a pale blanket grooming for a bit, and I didn’t see anything. How dramatic, at least I think I got the front paws all…[Read more]

It most likely was, nobody really clips down far enough to be very deep into the quick. Even if he kicked, I bet it was just a little part. Yes, styptic powder is just to help stop the bleeding. If Dorian is still hopping around, I’m sure he’s fine, especially because he stopped bleeding.

I just read this on bunnylady which looks like a good website:
“If you accidentally clip into the quick and the rabbit’s nail starts to bleed, you can use a cotton ball with a little flour or cornstarch to help stop the bleeding. Press the cotton ball against the nail for a couple minutes. After the blood has stopped flowing, allow your rabbit t…[Read more]

He seems to have stopped bleeding, I can’t really get him to let me look at his paw closely, but I was able to set it on a tissue and it’s not leaving any blood. I think the styptic is just to stop bleeding right? He is currently running through his tunnels and doesn’t seem to be hurting. I’ll definitely pick some up for the next attempt, but not…[Read more]

I don’t have styptic powder, thought I did but can’t find any. And yeah just did it. Went to clean his paw and he has already washed it all off. I’ll go see if I can dab flour on it. Ugh, poor little Dorian. I could also run to pharmacy for styptic powder, but not sure I should leave him?

Hi! I don’t have a picture handy, but Louie’s litter box is a Van Ness Covered Litter Box. I bought it online for a good price and removed cover/lid and just let him hop in and out with no grate. I allow some hay in the litter box and also hang a hay bag right above, so he can easily get some fresh hay if all is soiled, but it never is.

It’s ok, everyone makes mistakes with their bunnies. I would get out some styptic powder, which I have on hand, but flour works in a pinch too.

@RabbitLover908 Everybun is beautiful in their own way, and one day I am sure you will find some very kind bunnies, that will call to you. 🙂 Whichever buns you end up picking, will be very lucky to have you.

Ugh I feel like a horrible bunny parent, but Dorian kicked just as I was trimming his nail and ended up getting the quick. He now has a bloody little paw and is pouting. Is there anything I should do to make sure no issues.
