Hmm that is a bit unusual. Are you positive he’s actually eating it? Dental issue buns can sometimes pick up hay and then drop it. Or perhaps he’s having trouble picking it up off the floor as Wick suggested.

Ruling out dental issues, could you chose to use the “floor hay” as bedding in the litter box so at least it serves some purpose?

Is she molting? Sometimes a bit of stress can cause a couple poops to get stuck together and come out as one big one. But if they are overall back to normal then it’s nothing to worry about.

My vet (who is extremely knowledgeable) does not always do motility drugs. Often pain meds and syringe feeding are enough to get things on track. thank you so much! but i feel like they’re really big for bunny poop since they aren’t just like a bit bigger than her normal ones. they seem really big but i only found 2 so far.

Generally, larger poops are a great sign. Given she’s a lionhead, it could be filled with fur, so it is larger than usual. A couple larger poops are nothing to be alarmed about, as long as the other poops are healthy as well.

I have three thoughts:

1. Change the hay brand/type you’re using
2. Change the design of the hay feeder.
3. Going a day without hay is significant. Perhaps he has a dental concern happening making eating hay painful/difficult

Yeah I thought I remembered someone saying that about the ward care, thank you! I can ask about it when I’m there. I really don’t know about the anesthesia related costs. I can ask about those as well. I got an appointment for tomorrow, luckily.
