Hmm that is a bit unusual. Are you positive he’s actually eating it? Dental issue buns can sometimes pick up hay and then drop it. Or perhaps he’s having trouble picking it up off the floor as Wick suggested.
Ruling out dental issues, could you chose to use the “floor hay” as bedding in the litter box so at least it serves some purpose?

Can you post a picture?
Is she molting? Sometimes a bit of stress can cause a couple poops to get stuck together and come out as one big one. But if they are overall back to normal then it’s nothing to worry about.

My vet (who is extremely knowledgeable) does not always do motility drugs. Often pain meds and syringe feeding are enough to get things on track. They can usually tell if parts of the gut have completely shut down and use motility meds then. To me it sounds like your first vet might have over-medicated to cover all the bases (since they gave an…[Read more]

Generally, larger poops are a great sign. Given she’s a lionhead, it could be filled with fur, so it is larger than usual. A couple larger poops are nothing to be alarmed about, as long as the other poops are healthy as well.

I have three thoughts:
- Change the hay brand/type you’re using
- Change the design of the hay feeder.
- Going a day without hay is significant. Perhaps he has a dental concern happening making eating hay painful/difficult
What is his feeding schedule outside having unlimited access to hay? Also, are there more places that those two feeders he…[Read more]

Yeah I thought I remembered someone saying that about the ward care, thank you! I can ask about it when I’m there. I really don’t know about the anesthesia related costs. I can ask about those as well. I got an appointment for tomorrow, luckily.

So our bunny has a big 2 story and in the ground floor we used to have a hay dispenser for him that we recently changed to 2 smaller ones with that have a small feeder at the bottom. With both models our bunny tends to dig trough the hay (or at least tries to) so a lot of it falls on the floor. Poblem is that once this hay has touched the flo…[Read more]

Pricing can vary, so I would recommend looking at different places.
For this particular vet, I would ask if that hospitalization/ward care charge is applicable if your rabbit returns with you the day of the procedure. I mentioned before but it seems very high due to that hospital charge and the 300 for anesthesia related items. The anesthesia…[Read more]

Thank you Wick! I’ll ask them about syphilis. If it is a dental problem, should I look into different vets for different pricing? And yes, I believe they were talking about Spurs on his back teeth. Thank you for explaining it! This is the estimate they gave me. I think I posted this photo before.
In the summer this year, I believe Muffin will b…[Read more]
