My suggestion is more things for her to chew, such as willow baskets, cardboard scratchers that they sell for cats, and maybe fleece blanket throws she can dig at. This can definitely be post spay craze, and at the same time, she could just be settling into natural rabbit behaviors from boredom and a need for engagement. The first month of…[Read more]

I know it was recalled back in November and I’ve been avoiding it like the plague ever since. My bun loves it though. Has anyone heard if its safe to eat again?

The timing lines up with post-spay hormonal fluctuations and growing up. Carpet digging can happen with hormonal changes, fortunately for us spite is a human emotion, not a rabbit one.

I’ve had success using heavy ceramic tiles to block problem spots (since they tend to get obsessed over specific areas), and cardboard cat scratchers as an…[Read more]

She’s been spayed for about two months now and we used to have her free roam but she became very destructive of the apartment (tearing up the carpet…) almost like she was doing it out of spite even though she knew it was naughty lol. We always kept her in her cage over night and let her out during the day until we got the larger pen (which…[Read more]

Well…. I have a water dish too. Recently when I was trying to bond the quad I just had a bottle and I felt like BJ wasn’t drinking much (I put the bowl down and he immediately drank a ton). But that could be the combo of the stressful situation and no time to adjust to it. The other three buns did drink from the bottle though, so it could just…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Sore Hock Help! in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 7 months ago

My 4yo Netherland Dwarf actually recently showed early stages of sore hocks — no opened blisters, but fur loss and reddening. From what I was told, I do not expect loss fur on the hock to grow back, but the focus is more on making sure the hocks don’t get worse. My understanding is once that fur is gone, it is likely gone for good or recurring…[Read more]

    I’m sort-of at my wit’s end here…

My 3-year-old dwarf rabbit developed a sore hock on her left hind foot a few months back, and she will not let it heal! We’ve taken her on numerous doctor’s visits and tried several treatments, all to no avail. Every time the vet checks the hock, they notice no indication of an infection or underlying issue.…[Read more]

I’ll probably stick with one story (though I could make something for her to hop on top of just for fun).

Also, @pinkiemarie, great to meet somebody from Montana! You aren’t near the Gallatin Valley, are you? That’s where I am.

I already have an x pen but it is only 6 panels. Plus, it’d be easier having something the little gal couldn’t push…[Read more]

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try that, and give them some more pre-bonding time.

Yeah, using an x-pen as the home base will totally help! I’m not sure if you mean he’s kept in one of the store bought cages with the plastic bottom and wire attachment for the top. But yeah those are definitely too small for bunnies and it probably makes him unhappy if that’s the case (pet stores really try to fool you though!).

    I agree with…[Read more]

I agree with DanaNM, depends on how long ago she was spayed. Her hormones could still be crazy a few weeks after. But if she’s all healed up, you could try giving her more free time outside of her own space. This can help them see that there’s more areas they can be in and don’t have to be so protective over their own area. I have the pen open…[Read more]

Mine is the “LIXIT” brand. I got it ages ago, don’t remember what store! It seems to work fine, it will usually leak a bit when I first refill it up doesn’t drain itself or anything. I always check the ball bearing to make sure it isn’t stuck as well.

After further examination, I see that on the same digit on the other paw, theres the same bump in the same exact location, just on the opposite paw. I don’t think it’s a major problem but I will keep an eye on it.
