Are the poops dry, hard pellets like normal or is it more wet like diarrhea? If it’s diarrhea it’s an emergency and he needs to be seen by a vet immediately if you have access to an emergency vet.

He turned away from me to lay the opposite way pressed down In the hut.

a lot of poop coming fast out of his but

For an update on Pinky going to the vet today, he has a big gas buildup in his digestive system. The vet said he looks like a stasis rabbit. He got blood work done, x rays, and subcutaneous fluids. He’s getting metacam and trimebutine. The vet said we can also give him Simethicone drops and I emailed them earlier asking what dosage he should get a…[Read more]

Thank you guys. Luckily, they had a big rabbit come in for a teeth checkup. The owner is a veterinarian and allowed him to do the blood transfusion with Muffin.

Earlier, we got a phone call saying they think he has a perforation in his cecum, causing the infection. He was going to get surgery after the blood transfusion to clean it out. The…[Read more]

I just noticed this was a double thread. I saw Hazel responded in the other one, so I will close this one to avoid confusion.

Pressing his stomach on the floor sounds like he has gas. Do you have Simethicone (baby gas drops)? It works very well to get rid of gas quickly and is totally safe to give to bunnies. You can get it over the counter. I usually give 1 ml every hour until I see improvement, it doesn’t usually take more than two doses.

Great reasons to do the southern route!

He could have a bit of gas or other gi distress. Turning down a treat is always something to pay attention to.

My go-to is usually to give a tummy rub and simethicone (baby gas drops). This usually works within a couple hours if it’s going to work. If you have any syringes, you could also syringe some water to make sure he’s hydrated.

    Also try…[Read more]

Current plan is through Arizona, New Mexico, Arkansas, Tennessee, and then up to Mass. I think the original route we planned was more northern, but we shifted it south try to have better weather! Bonus was visiting friends in Tennessee. 🙂

I noticed my rabbit seemed to be trembling in his hut. His body was vibrating. He then zoomed out of the hut after I pet him into the litter box and laid down squishing his stomach. I moved him and he just stayed there which he NEVER lets me do.  The part that really made me think he’s sick is that I put a banana treat In front of him and he ig…[Read more]

Sounds like a good plan and I’m sure everyone will be fine. Are you driving through Cincinnati?

Just spoke to our vet, and she thinks driving will be better, so sticking with driving!

You are right about control and being able to stop when needed. The vet brought up that getting stranded at an airport with the bunnies would be horrible, which I hadn’t considered. She’s going to set us up with extra sub q fluids, pain meds, etc. in case we…[Read more]

I would double-check that all four could be with you when flying. Regulations change often.

Re: driving, you have more control in that you can better manage if things are going wrong. Car transport is important I’m sure, but something that might be helpful is investing in a spacious rental you can set-up might make the ride easier?

Yay!! Like Dana said before, I wouldn’t be surprised if Theo tries to mount ongoing as part of their relationship (My 2 were bonded 7 months ago and the female humps the males head at least once a day). Lucky for them, the male doesn’t mind so I’ve never considered it a problem. (I did stop her the first few times but then let it go). He’ll…[Read more]

Theo has gotten a bit better – minimal chasing in the past 24 hours. I’ve pushed their stay in our shared living space long enough so I had to move them into my room/their permanent room at noon today, after vinegar spraying everything. There was some initial mounting but especially since it’s their sleepy time, they calmed down within 15 min or…[Read more]
