Wick & Fable replied to the topic Bunny isn't eating Hay just got 3 days ago in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 6 months ago
Hay consumption often aligns with water consumption, as hay is very drying (I imagine it’s like eating saltine crackers for humans!), so typically a rabbit will eat a lot of hay, and then drink a lot of water afterwards.
If the rabbit is more inclined to eat pellets, it’s not surprising she’ll overlook hay. Why waste time and energy eating hay…[Read more]

I’m wondering if a stuffy with her scent may help him get that humpiness out of his system.
I think gently deterring it from him when it’s excessive is important so he gets some sort of feedback on that behavior. She’s running away, but it sounds like he’s not hearing the message.

yeah, they are pretty smart! He doesn’t go out unsupervised so do keep an eye out.
I should add it’s only a certain couple of crows who pretty much grew up on the deck. Dorian also only seems to like those crows, he will dash inside if the others come by and are noisy, but run out for these two. It is possible they associate him with food in the…[Read more]

Update: The last few sessions have been the same thing over and over. He wants to mount her, but she doesn’t so she runs away. They do this over and over. There are a few times that she let him mount her, but there has been no grooming. What should I do? Also, they were fighting a little through their xpen this morning. When they are together,…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Are these binkies, is my rabbit happy? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 6 months ago
This type of behavior does not happen if a rabbit is not feeling secure and comfortable. In terms of “happiness”, I am mixed about it for binkies in general. For example, one of my rabbits does this very often on his “medication/grooming mat”, which is what I put him on for grooming. He definitely doesn’t like it, but enacts these binkies on it…[Read more]

Hi thanks so much for your response, I totally understand taking advice from the vet, I just wanted another bunny owners opinion :). Alto is doing well, he seems like his normal self, he’s eating, his poop is normal. Hopefully I dodged a bullet, (knock on wood).

Pinky is also on Sulfatrim, 1mL every 12 hours because he is a bit wheezy and his nose has been whistling. He has also been possibly snorting in his sleep? And snoring. So the vet said it might be a respiratory issue.

I agree with what’s been said above. 🙂
Bathtubs or couches both work. I did my neutral bonding sessions on a couch, but with a pee pad under them. 😉

So, my rabbit keeps jumping around like this (see videos) and flattening my covers. Is he a happy bunny? (I’ll respond to this post with the other videos)

She’s a Holland lop bunny. For some reason, she doesn’t want to eat hay. She doesn’t drink too much water as well.

He’s not shedding much but, does need to be groomed since I just got him he doesn’t like being groomed and nor does he like being picked up. Any tips on grooming him and getting him used to getting picked up as he absolutely hates it 🙁

At 4 months old he’s probably hitting puberty. The circling and honking means he’s courting you. 😆

Thank you guys. Pinky is doing okay, he still eats some hay, lettuce, and pellets. I think he is more picky with hay when Muffin isn’t here. He was also not as excited eating critical care today and took longer than normal to finish it. He’s been flopping a lot. He was at the vet last night and they said his nail is okay but he’s still gassy…[Read more]

When I ever Willow’s play-pen he circles around me running fast and making very low honking noises. I’m not sure what he wants.

Bathtubs seem to work well for some people. I wouldn’t use a sink though, if they jump out they would likely get hurt.

What kind of rabbit is she? I’m asking to determine if she’s still growing or not. Growing bunnies should get “unlimited” pellets as long as they still eat enough hay. At 5 months old, depending on the breed she is approaching the age where she can switch to an adult feeding schedule. At around 3 lbs she would be fine with just 1/8 cup of pellets…[Read more]

Hazel replied to the topic Weird Reaction after Falling in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 6 months ago
Sounds like he hit his face when he fell, hence the sneezing/pawing at his face. Try to have a look at his nose and mouth, look for injuries or blood. And keep an eye on his food intake for a while, if he injured himself he might have trouble eating. Is he breathing normally?
