Was at store today. Had bought several bunnies for my charging cords. Put on the part closest to phone etc to keep from getting bent and wore out. Brought up bunnies. Man behind counter said his daughter wanted a bunny. He tells her its a lot of work. I gave him binky bunny. Yall taught me everything i know about bunnies. And house rabbit society.…[Read more]

@Wick ah okay good to know! He is a holland lop who is a year old so he’s on the smaller size I believe. So perhaps I will do the regular grids and then go to Home Depot for the coroplast and the carpet. I was looking on their site but I don’t know much about the carpeting. Do you have one you’d recommend?

Thank you again so much for all your…[Read more]

    Thanks!

Also, he’s my first long haired bun, what’s a good brush?

Put paper litter in cage, sticks like crazy to his fur.  Would Aspen be better or.. ???

Yes, borders (the strip running up the walls) don’t really add that much structural support — coroplast is sturdy enough as it is.

For the flooring I have, it was a roll of 0.5in, high density memory foam. “Fleece” describes a variety of different fabrics, so the best I can say is I went to a fabric store, went to their “fleece” section, and…[Read more]

There is definitely some trial-and-error needed for those more energetic rabbits who aren’t very fond of “traditional toys”. I eventually figured out this was something that fit my more destructive rabbit’s “niche”. I binder-clipped fleece blankets and used an old Oxbow toy to “store” the fleece blankets. She loves pulling them and digging at…[Read more]

Thank you for the input Ellie! They are definitely both diggers, though Bunbun’s destruction seems to be more chewing and ripping while Bokbok’s is digging.

I was so excited to make their box with shredded paper but they weren’t interested in it, even with pellets in there. I think I’m going to try one again though. Do you recommend making it…[Read more]

@Wick Ah okay! I could get the coroplast again from home depot as I did with my bun who passed. It doesn’t need to have the borders though, right? I don’t see any on your cage so I’m assuming just having it on the base will be strong enough. I can just go with the regular grids too if it’s safer! The plastic ones I was looking at are a bit differe…[Read more]

The plastic grids (if you mean like the one I pictured earlier) are fine for walls, but I would not use them as floors. The grids should be used as floors and they, in my opinion, make for more sturdy structures when used as walls as well.

This is one of the cages I have right now. There is a collapsed X-pen on the side that’s linked to it at…[Read more]

Oof, that’s always difficult with energetic young rabbits. Luckily everybunny has their hobby: tearing through a phone book, chewing wood, cardboard box destroyer, or digging. You may have two diggers.

I filled a box with shredded newspapers for our bun, and we hid his dry pellets in it. He could dig for hours trying to find more food. After…[Read more]

Awww, a blue-eyed white! <3 <3 <3 You know we’re all waiting for pics now, right?

Being a new bunny owner is so exciting! They have so many weird habits. They? Well, both bunny and owner 😉

There may come a moment when you’re ecstatic about finding poo in the litter box, and you may find yourself sending photos of it to your friends, showing…[Read more]

Both almost a year old, unbonded, play separately, and 5 months post neuter.

They’ve got lots to chew on and play with including apple sticks, cardboard tubes, grass house, willow and grass balls, stacking cups, etc. They definitely are bored but given their general disinterest in toys, I don’t know what else to do for them. I don’t cycle their…[Read more]

I would try removing the castle and see if that helps. Sometimes hides that are really big or only have 2 walls are better if one bun gets a bit territorial over things. It actually sounds like a frustrated mounting attempt (with the grooming first, then scrambling on her back), so that’s a little less concerning. Often a bun will groom the other…[Read more]

Ah yes the side borders I was hoping to avoid as my bun in the past would try to chew every type! I will see what options I can find though!

Do you think the cardboard is a better option than the play mats? I’m just not sure where I’d find a big enough piece unless I bought big cardboard storage boxes and cut them up which is a possibility! I jus…[Read more]

Sorry, I forgot to say they have 2 big litter boxes side by side. Like one is an old cage base and one is a big grocery type box. They both use both and Phil doesn’t seem to much mind. But maybe we introduced the castle too quickly. We also gave them some old toys like tunnels but vinegar’d down. Maybe that’s it?

Phil was a bully at the bond too…[Read more]

    Well remembered 😊

We actually got them bonded professionally, out of the apartment due to Phil’s territorial nature. It’s hard to say what’s causing it. We have a castle for them that they play on and nap in. Sometimes Phil gets antsy and will bully Tony out of the sleeping box. Weirdly though, she will groom her first, and then kind of scrabble…[Read more]
