I would take him to the vet.ย Drinking a lot can indicate multiple things, including a kidney problem, especially if he isn’t peeing more along with it. Sometimes bunnies with dental pain also will drink extra.

The reason she wasnt drinking is because the water in our tap has been sourced differently. We all had a letter locally. So we changed to bottle water which she drinks but only if we keep the brand the same. Whenever we change it she stops drinking. Also when we recently fitted a new carpet the smell distressed her so much she stopped drinking it.…[Read more]

Thank you very much for the answer!!
Yes, she is cleaning herself not touching the incision area. But she is doing it like most of the day. Could it be because she has this shirt on?

Bene-bac is the main one I know of that’s used in rabbits, and it is used for orphaned wild cotton tails when weaning them.
It really is quite amazing how similar horses and rabbits are! Teeth, gastric issues, etc… One of our vets didn’t get formal training on rabbits, but did on horses. Then she trained with a rabbit vet at the practice and…[Read more]

Not eating enough hay is usually the cause of smaller poops and mushy poops.
It has only been a couple days since her spay, so I would just keep up offering her as much food as she will take, especially hay. Once her hay consumption gets back to normal, then her poops should be mostly back to normal. Each bun handles anesthesia and surgeries…[Read more]

Hi thanks yes we do. We do give subqs at home as I have regular injections and know how to give them. This only helps when she is severely dehydrated as when we give her regular subqs she stops drinking as she thinks she hydrated. Then her digestion gets even worse as her stomach contents become even dryer as shes not takng fluids orally

Once again I’m sorry for posting so much. Anyway I’ve noticed Thumper drinking a lot of water (at least I think so, he had a bowl that held 1 cup of water and when I check on it later it was completely gone and there was no spilled water anywhere) since November of 2020 but he’s not peeing all the time but because it’s gone on for a little while I…[Read more]

jerseybunnies replied to the topic My rabbit's ear has been droopy (on and off) for like 5 days. Is that normal? in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 4 months ago
That picture looks like there could be lop mixed in. There are “helicopter buns” which are bunnies with one ear up, one ear down. Since the bunny is young, they could still have control in one of their ears, which is why one of the ears is only sometimes lopped. You might end up with two ears up, two ears down, or one ear up, one ear down.

That sounds great! After the poops are normal, your rabbit should be up and running just like before! ๐

I managed to do it in the shower as she doesn’t go there so she was calmer yay.
I thought she would need pain meds too and i was freaking out but she is healthy, happy, drinking a lot and eating if I hand feed her. She even flops on her side and purr when I pet her.
She does have a postsurgical shirt on not a cone. I’m scared to put it off of…[Read more]

If she doesn’t let you do it, I would suggest bringing her to the vet. I had an old bunny who had this problem and the vets were able to clean him off. He was in an unfamiliar environment so, as he would be running away and stuff at home, he was chill at the vet since he didn’t recognize the place. That is what I would suggest. I don’t know how…[Read more]
