The poops on the right side of the first photo don’t actually look that bad. There is definitely more variability in the 2nd photo that is more concerning, but I don’t think it’s an immediate emergency, unless you begin seeing diarrhea. I am not familiar with what you administered, so I cannot give any guidance on that.
How much hay is she…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Rabbit chewing at night, unsure of what else to do. HELP! in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
“She has hay and a wooden toy in there with her, so I don’t think she’s chewing out of boredom…” — I don’t think this is a good conclusion. As human beings, we can be stuck in a room with a bag of chips and a bouncy ball and still get bored, so keep in mind that just having a toy and hay in the area is not adequate engagement for a rab…[Read more]

My interpretation– understanding that we can never know what bunnies truly think and we tend to personify them– is that binkying/zoomies will cause tension when one or both rabbits is still nervous about the other. You see such a flail of motion and you’re nervous, so the thought may be to attack instinctually. I think continued exposure to each…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Sore hock or callous? in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
It’s a bit hard to tell from the photo (not your fault really; it’s hard to get a clear picture of these things without seeing it in person!), but it does look like early stage sore hock. Reddening and swelling is the sign of irritation, taking it to the realm of sore hock, as opposed to callous. Notably, rex’s are prone to sore hocks, so I…[Read more]

Think I went too long between nail clippings because she’s had stasis for a month and trying not to stress her out needlessly… then I noticed this forming and some missing fur. She is a rex mix. I finally clipped her nails today. Is it a sore hock?

Thanks again, Wick.
Shortly after this another fight broke out, so they’re now back to side by side enclosures. I’m going to give them a day and then start again with the new bonding area in the living room.
It seems the fights always start when one or both of them starts doing binkies and zoomies and kicks/lands on the other one. I don’t know…[Read more]

New rabbit owner here, I have a 2-3 month old Holland Lop doe, I’ve had her about a week. We’re keeping her in a hutch outside, in our garage, and she does fine until it’s night. We live on a farm and have had problems with coyotes in the past, and we have a fox family that’s been seen around the property, so at night I put her up. Her hutch h…[Read more]

hi everyone, my bun’s fecal pellets been wonky lately. The consistency of her fecal droppings had been erratic, sometimes its normal and sometimes its mushy soft or moist but formed and sometimes there are uneaten cecotropes around the litter box. I’ve layed off the pellets and she’s on a hay diet (timothy 1st cut) also, gave her half a vial of ER…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Unable to Neuter Rabbit but I want to get him a companion. in the forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A 5 years, 2 months ago
In terms of what rabbit breed would be best, there are no valid patterns in bonding success nor temperament that is going to make one breed better than another. Any breed is going to probably have equal variability in bonding compatibility, as it comes down to your rabbit’s personality and the personality of the other rabbit which ultimately…[Read more]

So I have a almost 16 month old Flemish Giant, Dean. I had planned on getting him neutered but after a medical emergency the vet advised against it due to affects anesthesia may have on his brain. I had also planned on getting another flemish giant and get that one spayed/neutered as well but I never did after Deans incident. I really want to get…[Read more]

If the living room is neutral, I think it’d be fine to start in that space then.
Re: separation, you could potentially use the space you’re using currently for bonding, that way no ownership occurs in the new bonding space.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Pre-Bonding: bunny chinning other bunnies belongings in the forum BONDING 5 years, 2 months ago
Chinning is something all rabbits naturally do in order to “claim” things, so whether it’s in bonding, pre-bonding, or just every day life, chinning is a natural rabbit behavior they’ll do when interacting with things!
