His previous homeowners didnt introduce him to hay which is not entierly their fault, hay is not readily available in my country. The hay online is as bad as it can be, I too get it imported from a different state. I feed him doob grass.
His poop has been soft and almost liquid since last night. Vet Clinics are closed on a Sunday and we dont…[Read more]

Unfortunately my choice in flooring is limited because she tries to eat most of it. There is low-pile carpet in there now, but she gets exercise time outside of the pen on hardwood floor, so I think that she has been outside of the pen more lately to get some exercise to get her gut moving and the fact that I went too long for the nail trim caused…[Read more]

jmdb started the topic I'm emotionally drined – where should I bond/house my bunnies now? in the forum BONDING 5 years, 1 month ago
Hi everyone,
I’m feeling emotionally drained, so please be kind. This is a bit of an essay but I’ve tried to explain the issues as concisely as possible…
TL;DR – which of these setups would be best?? (see the final bullet points)
BACKGROUND STORY:
I’ve been bonding my bunnies – a male angora mini lop and female nethie. Both fixed. In short,…[Read more]

Thank you again, Wick. That does make a lot of sense. Sometimes they make me jump too! What did you do when one bunny got wound up? Did you just keep exposing them and breaking up any scuffles caused by it?

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Dry sneezing fits worse even after Baytril :/ in the forum DIET & CARE 5 years, 1 month ago
14 days is typically the minimum for an antibiotic course, with many vets going longer in fear of stopping too soon. I think it’s definitely possible that Baytril was stopped prematurely in all cases.
Discuss with your vet (or another rabbit experienced vet, if possible) about trying Baytril again. If it still seems effective, continue it for at…[Read more]

Another 24 hrs in the books! Their relationship seems much stronger and there hasn’t been any chasing from Pixie, which was really our only issue before. They share the space well, respect with the other doesn’t want to groom/be groomed, and seek each other when there’s a scary noise. Yesterday I moved with them to the kitchen (was feeling trappe…[Read more]

I’m so sorry for your loss. When deaths come suddenly and seemingly out of nowhere, it is likely something that was congenital or underlying that you could not have really known about. She is now binkying free across the rainbow bridge. Please feel free to share fond photos or stories if you’d like on your topic .

The poops on the right side of the first photo don’t actually look that bad. There is definitely more variability in the 2nd photo that is more concerning, but I don’t think it’s an immediate emergency, unless you begin seeing diarrhea. I am not familiar with what you administered, so I cannot give any guidance on that.
How much hay is she…[Read more]

Wick & Fable replied to the topic Rabbit chewing at night, unsure of what else to do. HELP! in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 1 month ago
“She has hay and a wooden toy in there with her, so I don’t think she’s chewing out of boredom…” — I don’t think this is a good conclusion. As human beings, we can be stuck in a room with a bag of chips and a bouncy ball and still get bored, so keep in mind that just having a toy and hay in the area is not adequate engagement for a rab…[Read more]

My interpretation– understanding that we can never know what bunnies truly think and we tend to personify them– is that binkying/zoomies will cause tension when one or both rabbits is still nervous about the other. You see such a flail of motion and you’re nervous, so the thought may be to attack instinctually. I think continued exposure to each…[Read more]

It’s a bit hard to tell from the photo (not your fault really; it’s hard to get a clear picture of these things without seeing it in person!), but it does look like early stage sore hock. Reddening and swelling is the sign of irritation, taking it to the realm of sore hock, as opposed to callous. Notably, rex’s are prone to sore hocks, so I…[Read more]

Think I went too long between nail clippings because she’s had stasis for a month and trying not to stress her out needlessly… then I noticed this forming and some missing fur. She is a rex mix. I finally clipped her nails today. Is it a sore hock?

Thanks again, Wick.
Shortly after this another fight broke out, so they’re now back to side by side enclosures. I’m going to give them a day and then start again with the new bonding area in the living room.
It seems the fights always start when one or both of them starts doing binkies and zoomies and kicks/lands on the other one. I don’t know…[Read more]

New rabbit owner here, I have a 2-3 month old Holland Lop doe, I’ve had her about a week. We’re keeping her in a hutch outside, in our garage, and she does fine until it’s night. We live on a farm and have had problems with coyotes in the past, and we have a fox family that’s been seen around the property, so at night I put her up. Her hutch h…[Read more]

hi everyone, my bun’s fecal pellets been wonky lately. The consistency of her fecal droppings had been erratic, sometimes its normal and sometimes its mushy soft or moist but formed and sometimes there are uneaten cecotropes around the litter box. I’ve layed off the pellets and she’s on a hay diet (timothy 1st cut) also, gave her half a vial of ER…[Read more]
