Recovery from stasis and other digestive issues can be very slow with rabbits, so just keep up the supportive care, even though it is hard! If a little poop is coming out that’s great, just keep getting food into her. Did they give you pain meds? Metacam/meloxicam is commonly used and often helps them feel a lot better.

After many mysterious episodes of GI stasis and tons of radiographs, urinalyses, and blood panels, my small-exotics-only vet believes he’s found the root of Fuji’s pain: heart disease. Fuji is now on daily pimobendane; it’s a low-dose, for now, that can be upped and changed depending upon the severity and reoccurrence of her symptoms. My vet’s a…[Read more]

Thank you Suzanne. Knowing yours have gone a year makes me feel much better.
They are actually snuggled right now- which makes me feel a bit better.
Hopefully they will be ok 🤞 -

I have two buns who are bonded. I’ve had them about a year. I had the female about 5 months before we got the male. I can’t say she’s ever really bonded with me (not for lack of efforts on my part. Sat and laid on the floor with her daily. Hand feed treats etc).
She use to be pretty social just didn’t like pets. Recently she has been hiding…[Read more]

Hi, my buns aren’t in the exact situation, but they are more like room mates too. The female always has seemed to want more, will flop right on Elmer’s head etc, but unless she is grooming him or he is in a rare mood, he jumps away also. Most of the time they are separate, they don’t cuddle much at all. They used to cuddle more often. They still…[Read more]

Hi
we are now on 2 weeks living together and I would say they are coexisting ok. I can leave them unsupervised for short times (although it makes me stressed!)
they snuggle less than they did. Not much snuggling or grooming going on at all- seems like less than previously. Milo doesn’t groom and it is as if Louie has given up trying.
Milo w…[Read more]

but it made me happy.

Wick & Fable replied to the topic My rabbit is acting unpredictable in the forum BEHAVIOR 5 years, 2 months ago
Chewing (and inevitably eating some) things is a natural and relatively consistent behavior for rabbits — they need to do it in order to keep their teeth in check. Also, their gut moves very fast (they poop 200+ times a day), so I see this as rabbits are constantly open to eat more food, and at the same time, will always chew things when they…[Read more]

While generally rabbits do calm down with age, this is more of a personality trait than related to age. Some rabbits are naturally very chill, others not so much. All rabbits love to chew though, and a lot of them just aren’t suited for 24/7 free roam, especially if unsupervised. My rabbit is 8 years old and there’s no way I could leave him out…[Read more]
