I was curious if my rabbit looks overweight or not…I always get comments about how large he is and while these are from people who know nothing about rabbits it still makes me a bit anxious. I have looked up how to check for obesity based off feeling his ribs spine and butt and they are all fine! But i can’t help but worry …could anyone put my…[Read more]

I’ve had quite a few rabbits over the years, and only 1 grooms me regularly! I think the ones that do get lots of attention on social media but I don’t think it’s something that the majority of rabbits do regularly. I another one bun that would only groom my leg when I wore a specific pair of fuzzy pj pants. LOL
The fact that he loves getting…[Read more]

It doesn’t look too bad to me. Is the area you’re concerned about on the lower edge of the lid? I would hold off on doing any gels or creams, but you can rinse the eye with saline solution. He could have scratched it or gotten some hay dust in it.
I’m not familiar with piriton but I wouldn’t give any medicine until you have the exotics vet look…[Read more]

The AC in my room doesn’t work the best and I have experienced this issue quite a bit! What i typically do is take a frozen water bottle put it inside a sock and let my bunny lay next to it. Something else that works well is wetting your bunnies ears, as you may know their ears is where they store all the extra heat in their bodies so cooling this…[Read more]

I’ve had my bun since about august (almost 6months!) and it seems he has gotten very comfortable with me. He loves getting pets and kisses but he doesn’t return them? I don’t really mind it I’m just happy he lets me cuddle him, but i was still curious why he doesn’t lick or groom me like i have seen other bunnies do. Also he does this thing where…[Read more]

What happens if you don’t intervene with the nipping? Does it resolve on its own or escalate to a scuffle?
Same with the mounting, does it just lead to some chasing, or does it turn into a fight? Mounting is be OK (and happens in bonded pairs too), and if the chasing is due to a mounting attempt it may help to just observe and let it play out for…[Read more]

DanaNM replied to the topic Bonding is going well, but there are hierarchy issues, feeling a bit stuck. in the forum BONDING 4 years, 7 months ago
I’m guessing most of the issues are because it’s less neutral. Rabbits rely strongly on their sense of smell, so if they are within smelling range of their home territory that can sometimes cause issues. If things get tense again in tonight’s sessions, it may be best to try another space that’s more neutral. I saw a really similar pattern with…[Read more]

Yes absolutely, that’s my thought as well. Spider bite fits, I just can’t find any information about those sorts of bites in rabbits. Plenty of info about how they’re not as bad for humans as people think they are, but rabbits are obviously not people.
In any case, she’s still recovering well which is all that matters.

Positives are mutual grooming, eating together, loafing together, and ignoring each other. Negatives are nipping and humping, but these only seem to happen when Pumpkin takes a wee, which triggers Hero the dominant bunny to get territorial. Night time and late evening also seems to trigger aggression, we can’t work out why at all. During a 24/7…[Read more]
