My bun Bam used to do this with my mum. He adored her. She had a special bunny long skirt when we visited. Maybe he got so comfy in her lap that he didnt feel up to leaving when nature called?
He could also pee on the sofa at home with me, when we had been cuddling for a long time and he was all flat and stretched out alongside me. I remember thinking about various hormones that could perhaps be at play, not necessarily sex hormones, rather hormones like oxtocin and vasopressin. I’m certainly not an endocrinologist, so I havent delved deeper into this. I had to block Bam from accessing the sofa. I did that for several weeks, then the sofa’s existence seemed to have been erased from his mind so I could unblock it. It was a bit sad bc I liked our cuddle sessions.
This time of year even neutered/spayed buns can get (sex-) hormonal, and it has to do with the increase in daylight. Buns can suddenly start up courtship behaviors, like circling and pee-spraying and attempt to mate with f ex feet. It doesnt feel very spring-like where I am, more like mid winter and its cold outside, but just the other week I saw two wild hares chase each other across a field and the great tits (parus major) birds have started to sing, so “March madness” is well on its way. “March hare syndrome” resolves on its own.
