So after years of me not having time or energy to bond them a lot, I kind of neglected the process, even though it pains me even now. But they always were curious of one another and even with the new barrier, they found a way to get in the same room. Mostly Pi is curious and going to Dorian’s room. I did bond them more lately. Now they can be in the same semi neutral space, with some episodes of Dorian getting away from Pi, stomping and wimpering sometimes before taking off. But they don’t bite one another any more, and in the bonding sessions most of the time they lay on the side or in a loaf, or groom themselves. I think Pi sometimes tries to groom Dorian’s butt and Dorian doesn’t seem to mind for several seconds. Most of the activity is either flopping, grooming, trying to escape and move the barrier, and Pi sometimes approaching Dorian, after which there is some form of evasion where Dorian goes somewhere. This session I put several boxes so they don’t see each other 100% and have something else to do, looks like it helps. They are there for several hours with no major fights. I will try to upload videos, you could hear the stomp as a loud bang in slo mo… So this is my progress and suddenly I am hopeful again! Just wanted to share.
