I’m glad you spotted it so early, now you can keep an eye on it to prevent it from turning into sore hocks. They can be difficult to treat if it catches you by surprise.

It caught us completely by surprise that Breintje had sore hocks. I only noticed it when he brushed past my hand and I felt something wet. Both hocks were red and infected 🙁

We can’t bandage Breintje because he goes completely mental when he has bandages on. He fights you all the way while putting them on, and tears them off as soon as he can. If the bandages are too difficult to rip off he gets scared. He hopped onto the sofa, pressed himself against my leg, and started to shiver and pant. 🙁

We’ve covered our floor with thick soft blankets now, and we put ointment on his hocks. It’s healing but it takes a long time for the fur to grow back over it.
