Well I got crafty and made a tutu! It was super easy! Here’s the tutorial, I’d love you to make some and post photos too! http://pitlandia.blogspot.com/2012/09/diy-dog-tutu.html

Here are some photos on how mine turned out! (The model is my mini Dachshund Snickers)

She looks so proud of her tutu! I’ll have to try and find some tulle so I can make Tribble and my sister matching tutus.

      Thanks guys.

I bought the elastic, 3/4″ wide for 97 cents at walmart. The sew in velcro (a long strip of it, that I’ll probably never use a lot of!) was also only 97 cents at walmart. The tulle (again at walmart) was $2.97 for 25 feet. I bought 2 spools(? is that what they are called?) of pink and you can’t even see a dent in them lol! So it’s pretty cheap to make.

Great job! it turned out very well. You could make some and try and sell them. Snickers looks very pretty and cute in her tutu. She does seem to like it. I bet its because she knows she looks cute.

How cute! I bet bunny tutus would be adorable. I doubt they would look as proud to wear them though lol.

LBJ— I bet I could get a photo of Moxie in Snickers’ tutu for you until I can get more supplies at the store (I’m thinking Moxie needs a purple and blue tutu),

I could make an xxxxl size for Winnie. She would love that…. oh…to have free time again….it’s a huge struggle trying to get any crafting time in at all. I miss my embroidery.

LPT, is Winnie your horse? How adorable wouldn’t that be??

LBJ, I’m kind of asking the same thing here.

Tulle is expensive here, I found out. Like 10 US dollar/yard. I’ll never dare show my dog the tutu-pics or she’ll die of envy =)

The photos are uploading now! Ahh mad BB riot because adorable photos aren’t coming quick enough!

Bam— Really? That pricing is outrageous! But you know you could always try and make one out of cloth/material?

Now first thing first, Snickers’ tutu didn’t even come CLOSE to clipping around her! So I pretty much just set the tutu on top of her and snapped a few photos.  (I know the pics are poor quality btw)

Immediately after this photo she ZOOMED away (like there was a predator after her or something!) and the tutu fell off.

She was hiding under the dresser where she KNEW, nobody could find her (or could they?).

But alas they could and the photo session started again, so she decided she might as well pose in front of the window.

Aww, Moxie! I forget she’s such a big girl. She doesn’t look quite as proud wearing it as Snickers did though. Weird animals, rabbits. I’d have thought all girls would be so happy to wear a pink tutu.

On the pic it looks like a tiara. You could wear it yourself on your head for celebratory occasions.

Yeah she’s a pretty big girl. She is about a pound or so heavier than my dog, and “rounder”. All the fur really adds to her circumfrance.

Oh My Squee!!!!!! Bunnies in Tutus!!! This needs to become “a thing”. So super cute!!!!

Yes, Bam. Winnie is my horse. Unfortunately for her, being 800 lbs doesn’t save her from Momma’s costumes.

I did some tutu work today. I actually cheated and bought a handmade teal coloured tutu for Everly and I bought some purple tulle to add to it. Had I seen this tutorial before I bought the tutu I would have tried making it myself but I got a good deal on it a few months back. Her 1st birthday is coming up on the 21st and we’re having a big Mermaid-themed bash so she needs an adorable outfit to wear.

Okay since I decided that Paris will be the one entering the 5K with me she needs a tutu! So I need to think about what colors I want it to be. Any suggestions?

The tutu will be 1-2 colors. I don’t think pink will look the best on her. I was considering blue/green or green/purple or some combination like that. What do you all think? I will post a pic of her so you have something to work with. She is a german shepherd mix who is mostly black but has tan on her legs and above her eyes. She’s a little over 30 pounds so she’s still relatively small.

Glitter tulle looks nice, but glitter will go EVERYWHERE. If I’d realized how much glitter fall-out I’d get, I would’ve just gone with a plain tulle.

Tribble’s tutu is done at least! I need to wait until tomorrow to take pics so I have some natural light.

    • MoxieMeadows

I didn’t get glitter tulle because it’s like $2 more expensive.

Her tutu is blue + purple, they were getting rid of all their tulle ( ) and didn’t have any yellows or oranges to make that fancy tutu I wanted to. I don’t think Paris will leave it on though, she’s still a puppy and will most likely rip it off!

    • Bam

Nooo, I’m sure Paris will leave it on beacuse she’s never worn anything prettier in her life. She’ll feel like the belle of the ball and will want to hang on to that feeling.

      =)

All the other dogs will be envious of her fashionable tutu!

I used a ribbon as a waistband so I didn’t have to sew, and I hate it. Hard to tie, keeps untieing, slides all over the place. Going to unravel it and start again using elastic.

Not the best picture, but tutu!

MissGabbster— Our sewing machine broke so I’ve been trying to sew the velcro on by hand. It is so hard to push it through and hurts your thumb so I finally gave up with that! I used a little super glue and it worked great! (And only took seconds!)
