White Rabbit White Rabbit White Rabbit! Starlight Sterling and Bindi Bear!

Olaf has developed some zebra stripes in his most recent molt. They looked like the hairline from his shedding at first but the tips are definitely gray. Never know what he’s going to look like every season.

Asriel asking for treats and nose rubs! I was so excited last night! As most of you know, he’s very wishy washy with wanting affection. Last night, just before bed, this little man comes on the bed and bobs his head, so I start rubbing his little snoot. Five seconds later he pancaked and let me stay nose to nose with him for a half hour letting me just rub him and his little snoot. If I stopped he would frantically sniff around for my hand. So precious when he wants to be.

Bombur, in his normal pancake pose. If he comes on the bed, which is often, odds are he wants love. He might look like he wants to go do bunny things, but the minute you rub and kiss his cheeks, he hunkers down. The more you pet him, the more he pancakes. He has to get up and shake his ears every so often though. Silly lops.

@pinknfwuffy: Isn’t he just the most handsome rascal around? Love his new look

@A&B: Hurrah for snuggles! Really cute that Asriel wanted to cuddle so closely

@Luna: Hehehe, at least this is a perfectly well-groomed butt. See, Breintje? That’s how yours could look…if only you cooperated a little bit…

@Heaven: Squee! So tiny, so fluffy ^_^

@Garfy: Awww, so clever to carry that on your back. Play house and chew toy all in one!

Finally, after a long month with lots of fur flying, raging hunger and tremendous bouts of the grumps, I’m glad to announce that Breintjes moult is over!

Little mister-won’t-be-brushed is such a pain in the rear during moults. His fur gets all matted, and he even had fur from last year’s winter coat on his butt. His winter to summer moult stopped halfway, and the remainder wouldn’t come out. All of 2017 he had a thin coat on his front end, a big line halfway down his body and a double coat on his rear.

Here is the little monster, next to two tubs full of hair. He had so many tangles and a lot of loose fur on his backside. He always started to purr immediately when I touched the tangles with my fingers during petting, but he wouldn’t allow any brushing or gentle plucking. I put him on the “towel of shame” tonight, and was rewarded with a lot of thumps and squirming. Afterwards he calmed down a bit, I just hope I finally got everything out.

I think I may have been cursed up to the 7th generation of my line, but I’m just happy to have gotten rid of the mess. He had trouble cleaning it properly and spent a lot of time licking it. The tangles also felt nasty and greasy to the touch. Hopefully he’ll forgive me some day, but I’m already looking at a bun who’s looking a lot prettier than he’s been in the last year. Sadly, I don’t think Breintje is going to look at me for the next couple of days unless I’m carrying food…

But after much squirming, fur flying and a lot of sneezing, I can finally say that I’ve won “The Battle of the Brushed Butt”

My goodness, I just want to put him in my pocket!   He is so cute, Ellie. Grumpiness and all.

So…im not really into the whole valentines day thing and the commercialism but seeing as it is this month, I thought the buns out there might be gearing up for it.

Rumball and Ailis will be celebrating their 4th anniversary around Easter time. Rumball was bonded tp Jersey for 4 years prior to that, before she passed away. I see this sort of thing pretty much everyday with these 2.

Gooseman and Potamus have been a pair(former trio) for 4 years too! It will be 5 years in August.

And then there is this guy.  He’s single.

@jerseygirl those photos of R & A are SO GORGEOUS! I love seeing pics of bunnies snuggling. And super cute you’re celebrating their anniversary :3 do you know their birthdays too?

I knew Sam was born in earlyish October but not the date, so I picked 9th the same as John Lennon

    • jerseygirl

I only know 2 actual birthdates! Rumball is Oct 16 (his first owners bought him from a breeder and told me this date). Potamus is March 18. I even know approx time of her birth because she was born at my house! The others I’ve had to guess. For TimTim, I gave him a new years birthday. He was about 4 weeks old when he was found. Gooseman was possibly born in month of November and Ailis is the one Im most uncertain of. She was possibly already 2yrs old when I took her in. So she could be at least 7 or older. She was rescued on 20th February so that’s a significant date. Or a December date when she came to live with me.

Sam looks like he has lots of charisma so I think it’s fitting he shares his birthday with John Lennon.

Wow, your buns are amazing jerseygirl! Love to see buns snuggling

@A&B: Haha, you hit the nail on the head! In Dutch we call naughty kids and feisty critters “donderstraaltjes” which means “little beams of thunder”. Despite all his cute looks I saw him fight for his dignity last night: “NOT THE BUTT! Butt is MINE!”. Nethies can be so prudish about where you can’t touch them, and they’ll put up a nasty fight if you do.

A bit late, but what a great way to start my February with all these cutie patooties!!!

Hoppy End-of-Molt Breintje!!!! Sterling is almost done his too, thankfully. He also is a giant pain in the rear when it comes to grooming. Try brushing an 11lb bunny who genuinely thinks you are trying to torture him!!

Well, Jersey, looks like you have some big Anniversary Parties to plan!!!! Or perhaps just some quite romantic dinners?

Couldn’t get on for “White Rabbit” but here are my boys:

Destroy!!! Destroy!!! These were Olivia’s stacking cups. Nice to see Sterling keeping the tradition alive.

I can hear a crinkly bag opening 2 towns away.

And little Mr. Bindi. He’s pretty much allowed to get away with whatever he wants.

JG – They’re all so adorable! Rumball is such a ham .

Yikes, he’s precisely 4 times as heavy as Breintje is!  How on earth do you manage to brush him? You probably need 4 people to keep him down if I look at what a fight Breintje puts up…

Can’t wait to see the pics Rain! Instead of inserting the file information, you want to press “Reply” to start a formal reply, then press the arrow on the right of the “Attachment” bar on the bottom of the reply screen. From there, click “Browse”, find the picture you want, and upload it. Wait until it pops up in the attachment box, and press “Insert” button icon (square with a plus) when it pops up! If the site says the picture is too big, open the photo in Paint and use the “resize” tool to make it smaller, then save it, and redo the steps above.

      Aww!! He’s so precious!!!
He also doesn’t look overweight to me. He has the long pointed nose of a false dwarf and he has the characteristic long ears of them too. How much did he weigh at the vet? Because if it was like 2.5-3 pounds, that’s honestly just his genetic makeup.

Hello everyone! Sorry that I have not been on for a month. Lots of busy stuff happening with bonding.
      Everyone posted such cute pictures!
Olaf – You almost look like a bunny snowman with those stripes!
Garfy – Maybe he is pretending to be a tortoise so that he can win the race?
Ellie from the Netherlands – I can relate, Reese hates to be brushed too!
Jersey – Your bonded buns are so adorable.
Speaking of bonded buns, Reese Thumper, Leonardo DaVinci, and Vincent VanGogh are now roommates! They get along very well and snuggle together a lot.

      Here are some pics:

In this pic, they all look super creepy with glowing eyes because it was dark and I had to use the flash because I just had to take a picture of them all in the cage because it was super cute

Here is Vinny showing off his weird molt likes that make him look like he is wearing big goggles or like he is an owl

Take a picture of my good side… which is every side!

Leo is feeling very comfortable in his new giant cage

That one friend who doesn’t know about personal space…

Cuddle bunnies! Vinny and Reese like to sleep like this, I saw them sit like this multiple times. Bunnies morph into… Cinnamon buns!

Sorry about the picture spam, one last picture… Unicorn bunny!

Panda and Fernando having their salad Tuesday evening. Their eyes are mostly-closed because of the flash, which is why I don’t take many flash pictures of them; I don’t like bothering their eyes with a bright light flashing on and off. Of course, it’s a Catch-22 since flash is the only way I can get decent pics of them inside their condo this time of year in the evenings! Panda’s head fur looks a bit ruffled, since Fernando was grooming his mother a few minutes previously. You can see their hay pile in the litterbox behind them.

They always have! I visited them at their foster mom’s home the day before they moved in with me, and they were sharing their salad together – in fact, their salad bowl was given me by their foster mother. In fact, all their dishes – including their big water dish – are shared. It’s practical to streamline feeding and watering, and it helps that they’re very good about sharing (though they do engage in funny tugs-of-war over their oats bowl every evening); I think it also promotes togetherness for them to eat together at every meal.

Fernando, in particular, does that a lot. He enjoys diving into a large pile of hay to root around for the tastiest pieces, and even though he (and Panda) are short-haired buns, he’ll often emerge with little bits stuck to his fur that I have to pluck out.

Fernando has been known to react like that on a couple of occasions where he’s managed to make good his escape into the great beyond of the apartment, then been tracked down, picked up and firmly placed back into the X-pen enclosure. He does not like having his fun spoiled and has made his displeasure with the proceedings known by kicks and even nips.

They look bigger than they are, likely because I often take the photos pretty close up and also because they’re exceptionally fluffy due to molting season at the moment. (And they may recently have put on a bit of weight, too.)  I wouldn’t want to swear to it in court because it’s impossible to know for 100% sure, but based on my Internet research, comparing them to photos and physical descriptions, etc., I think they’re Polish breed, possibly purebred; I do know Panda originally came from a breeder. When I took them in for their first semiannual checkup in November, both of them weighed in at a touch over 3 pounds each.

Hubs always tells me that when A&B go, that we aren’t getting another bunny. He reminds me I initially wanted a soft coated wheaten terrier. He says the boys are $$$ suckers, so he wants a me to go back to wanting a wheaten. I still do… but I’d like another bunny too. Maybe a Flemish? I do love my dwarves though.

Seventh molar grinding! His bottom incisors are grinded down as much as possible, so you can’t even see them when you part his lips, haha. He had two spurs on the top which are not too bothersome, but one on the bottom was starting to get to him, so that was addressed today.

He’s getting used to waking up now, so he doesn’t wobble as much (knows to avoid moving around a lot now, haha). Not good video material Wick.

Awww, he looks pretty groggy in the video. Still cute though! ^_^ I hope that his teeth troubles will be over soon

Breintje has some serious post-moult diet grumps. We always feed him a bit extra protein-rich food during moult, because he needs a lot more energy during moult. He usually gains a bit of weight, and he has to lose approx. 50 g again to be back to 1250 g. His opinion of diet: “It’s like DIE! With a T!”. Well, you get it…

He’s constantly hanging around us now, and today he was grumpy because I didn’t share my red coleslaw with him. It contains raisins, oranges and thyme, which are favourites of his. But it also has red cabbage and shallots marinated in red wine vinegar, which are a perfect recipe for tummy trouble. When he found out that begging didn’t work he hopped off the couch and started to give me the stink-eye.

I made it up to him later in the afternoon with a juicy tangerine, he got a third of a slice. Sharing fruit together always leads to laundry or cleaning, because this bunny has never heard of table manners. As my grandma sighed when I was a tot: “Appearantly it’s only good if you end up covered in it…”
