While we were waiting for Sally to finish her spay yesterday we went into the pet store and saw this cute little guy

Sally eating her lunch like a champ! This was after her spay and she still looks a little rough but is acting so well! She is handling the healing process so well even though she didn’t get extra pain meds So proud of my baby

I put out a few old stuffed animals to see if she would want to make a stuffie friend or not. So far I’ve seen her groom a few of them. 

Oh also, I like to look through the Craigslist section of pets sometimes (even though I think it’s so weird that someone would sell an animal via Craigslist/I think Craigslist is super sketchy!!!), and someone in my city is giving away a bunch of grey and white harlequin baby buns. They’re so cute. I wanted to cry.

That story upset me so much when I first saw it! It’s unreal and in my mind irresponsible. I freaked out the one time Foo got a tiny bite of cracker and those people are feeding their poor bun crackers as part of its diet. Blows my mind.

Yeah, I thought she was crazy to be feedning that poor bun cereal and crackers. She probably wants to make sure he stays big so she can keep the world record. There’s some sad people out there. Anyway, I probably put this in the wrong thread, sorry for that.

So, Socks has grown juuuuuust a little bit since I introduced her here:

More or less litterbox trained, she still leaves stray pellets on SO’s pillow on occasion (from what I understand this will stop once she’s spayed?), and I’m always a little worried she’ll pee under my bed 

She also loves playing in the kitchen when my mum and I are in there working on things. Her favourite thing about the kitchen, though, is when my dad wears his fleece-lined jeans – she’s obsessed with trying to get up his pant leg to savour the cozy!

We’ve also been introducing her to a leash and harness so she can see snow, and come outside with us! We hope to build her an outside play area over the summer.

The Tans were driving me insane, and they finally got Simba going all crazy with them… He was so excited and I’m not sure he even knew what he was all excited about!  LOL.  But they finally calmed down and all laid down.  My gorgeous bunch!  Missing Nora.   The 2nd one is Sidney being a dare-devil.  She jumped on my back and landed on my head.  Then situated herself and was accessing the situation on how she could jump over the x-pen.  Total goober.

NBO, that little guy is adorable! And so happy Sally is doing good after her spay! She does look a little ruffled up though! Haha! She will be back to normal in no time, I’m going to be freaking out when Nora has to go for her spay and I’ve been through this before!! So scary!!

Caroline, I swear.. they always think they’re being so helpful! If only they knew….

MissD, I saw that story and was completely horrified also! It even said how her vet told her to stop feeding her bunny that horrible diet yet she does it anyway. Where are her parents??? She’s obviously not responsible enough to own a pet – and she doesn’t look that old. Did the article say how old she was?? I can’t remember or not – was a few days ago I read it.

Channy, Socks is so cute! Hahaha, she reminds me of a kitten! Although, a much cuter kitten! I’m not one for having cats but kittens ARE adorable! I love her little booties on her feet, haha!

He really is lazy. He lounges most of the time he is out lol

Lovely Harley, what a beautiful bunny he is. Tanlover, your rabbits are stunning, you are lucky to be able to have so many.

We let Buddy run around our flat for several hours every day and he always ignored the vertical blinds in the living room… till Thursday. He started chewing the little plastic chain on the bottom so we removed it yesterday which made him very unhappy and upset with us. He was just sitting there staring out the window for almost an hour, then he got over it (with the help of a piece of apple)

I seriously LOVE Buddy. He is SUCH a handsome boy.

We are lucky to be able to care for all our babies. I can’t wait until Nora is bonded to the others. The Tans and Simba now take up half our dining room. (Two x-pens put together). And Nora has run of our hallway. LOLOL. Bunnies climbing out of my ears, I swear!

Harleys face is so unique! It’s like one of those masks. That has evil on one side and goodness on the other! Haha. Not that he’s evil! But it’s just so cute on him! She does have a red tint to her eyes! It’s so weird. Hopefully thats why she does her scanning. **Hopefully**

Finally got the pics! Ok, so basically I didn’t get any easter pics of Mimzy because I didn’t really have any props or anything. I had brought a fold up chair and table in my room to draw (which I never do) and decided to put Mimzy’s blankets on top of the chair to turn it into sort of a hidey house while I’m drawing. I got off at one point and she jumped up. It just looked so cute, & I remembered the dogs had this giant red plastic egg toy they never play with, so I finally got somewhat of easter pics days after easter already passed

I’ve been allowing Sally and Harley to interact through the bars of the cage. They really don’t seem bothered by each other at all! Can’t wait to start bonding these two that way we won’t have split play times and they both can have the WHOLE day out at the same time

Bunny Daddy, what did you use for your hay rack?

I just bought a metal rack/basket you use in the kitchen (I honestly am not sure what it’s called, I got it at walmart, it was marketed as a dish rack, but it doesn’t look like the kind we’ve ever used, it’s basically just a metal rack, covered in plastic so it doesn’t rust.) And a bent up NIC grid zip tied at the bottom (And left open at the top so I can put hay in it.) Oh, and Duchess taught Nala how to get in it, and now they both take turns sitting in it.

Channy- Socks is so cute! Makes me miss my little girl when she was a baby bunny. They grow up so fast!

tanlover- You are crazy awesome for raising so many rabbits! I love the picture of Sidney on your shoulder, very cool. She looks so curious and smart =)

NBO- I think your pair wins the award for best looking couple. afljdslkfjs they are both so cute together, I can’t even! lol.

MissD- Nugget used to do the same thing! She was obsessed with hiding behind the blinds and staring out the window, but she started digging at the carpet and chewing on the blinds as well so we don’t let her sit there anymore.

Nugget – I know I’m totally crazy!! LOLOL. We really only meant to have one… like seriously. We said ONLY ONE. Yeah… that worked out well. And it’s even worse because on the 15th of April we will have been bunny owners for one year officially! Our first year bunniversary and we went from ONE TO FIVE. Insanity.

Nugs and that dino – HHAHAHAHAH. I wish I could give the Tans a stuffed animal but we had given Sidney one to help her with her spay and it was awesome, she cuddled with the darn thing ALL the time but when we bonded them and put them together the boys tore the whole thing apart. So no more stuffed animals for them!

Vegas is adorable! And tiny – do you know what breed she is? Dwarf or is she still just a baby??

Awe, thank you so much!  I love her so much!  Even though she’s been being quite a little butt lately, going through my trash for McDonalds straws, and she’s become jealous of my girlfriend, Juliet, because usually she won’t hop up on my bed, but if Juliet is laying down with me, sure enough she hops onto the bed, comes over to me and starts giving me lots of kisses, then pees on the bed ahahaha.  The little rascal she is!

tanlover- Well, you’ll have a big party with you to celebrate your one year =) But it’s obvious that you love all your buns very much, even if they drive you a little insane. That’s cute that Sidney actually liked her stuffed friend, Nugget doesn’t give a hoot about hers. I thought she would want a friend to keep her company when we’re not home, but she’s indifferent about it.

Caroline- Thank you, she knows it too =P. She’s about 4-5 months old and yes, she is abscess free now. Her fur has grown back in very nicely since the vet cut her sutures off.

Mimzy- Thank you. Your Mimzy is gorgeous too! I agree that bunnies grow up too fast. I miss the days when Nugget had short legs and couldn’t jump up or down the couch.

fox- Baby Vegas is so freaking adorable! You two are lucky to have one another. Lol, bunnies can be jealous, it’s true! Nugget bonded with my boyfriend first and she was not very fond of me for a couple weeks. She would also do something to distract us if we were getting too close, it was very funny.

I had three babies all at the same time and they drove me absolutely bonkers. Watch out when they hit their “teenage” stage, it’s nothing but terror! I said no more babies but then stumbled upon my Nora who wasn’t being fed and was sick at a pet store so we took her. She’s about 4 months now (3 when we got her) and boy is she developing a total attitude. So much easier with just one though!!

Awh poor Nora!  I’m glad she now has a great owner!  She’s definitely almost to her teenage stage! … But then again, maybe she’s just a little brat!  Her favorite thing to do lately is play peek-a-boo mixed with Catch Me If You Can! She definitely loves getting my attention then running when I try to pick her up!

Thanks, I’m obsessed with her big ears too! You know, I always thought the same thing about opposite gender attraction between animals/humans… but I’m not 100% sure if it’s a real thing. It might be more common, and it makes sense to me. But it would be more likely that Vegas has a bonded with you and it’s hard for her to see you give your gf attention . If the three of you spend more time together, Vegas will surely build a relationship with Juliet too. It just takes time.

I cheated. I was trying to video with my phone to inspect her spay incision and she kept licking her lips (I was holding cilantro above her head to get her to stand up ) anyways I just took a few screen shots while playing the video. It was really hard to capture it because it moves so fast!

My friend is coming over later with a bunch of boxes so we can try to make some kind of tunnel or castle for Mimzy but we’re not sure how to connect them. He was thinking of fitting them together like a piuzzle.

I am not sure if they use the ramps in the cottage. From the sounds of it this morning at 7am it just sounded to me like Valentine was hopping up and down. I don’t have any carpet on the ramp so it would be pretty difficult for them to grip the ramp. I am kind of sure they just hop on it. Rascal never used to like it but since I put it in the pen he loves it. Valentine was going NUTS on it this morning! She was running up and down it. She even jumped from the top of it onto the litter box. Glad she jumped to the litter box though, where it’s soft and not the hard floor. They haven’t really chewed it yet but I am sure Valentine will get to that soon. =P She is my destructo-bun. =P

Hi, everyone. I haven’t posted much lately either. Some of these pics I’ve been meaning to share since February.

And here’s another misc. pic of her sitting on the bed, probably waiting for “the elevator.” She still doesn’t think she can get on or off the bed by herself, so I see that she gets transported via the litter box elevator.

  

And this last one, if you can’t tell, is another pic of her waiting for me to ask: “Hodari, do you want your cookie?”, which, of course, we all know the answer to. Yeah, it’s hard to concentrate on much when cookie time approaches… Too much scrutiny from the little cookie monster. (The “cookie” is an Oxbow Immune Support supplement btw. )

I am really gonna enjoy watching little Nora grow, Tanlover. Your stories about her are so cute. It seems to me that it took Hodari over a year to really get to her adult size, and I don’t think I am imagining that because DH remarked on it, too; she kept having growth spurts, which were virtually overnight.

Every year we go to the state fair and I am always compelled to look at and say hello to every rabbit there; poor bunnies are always so miserable. The heat and all the noise, and seldom do any of them have any hay. The best thing is getting to see all the breeds.

SS – I LOVEEEE Houdari (not sure if I spelled it right as I’m off in the page and in the reply section!).  She is absolutely gorgeous and does look a lot like Nora!  She has grown so much already I swear!  She’s still only 2.6 lbs though – half the size of my Tans! 

 

MoveDiagonally – I was wondering if I could do a blog post on my blog about your babies and how you were kind of thrown into the situation with them?   If you don’t mind – I’ll send you a PM with some of my thoughts on writing about them.   I love what you did and how you are so willing to raise them and care for them.  So many people would have just thrown them off like nothing – and despite ALREADY have a good load of bunny work you took them in anyways!  I LOVE IT.  I really wish more people were like you!

I always see craigslist listing for pygmy goats and I’m always really tempted to get one…. even though I don’t live in a rural area.

 I’ve had my mother move back in with me (well it is her house!) and one thing she’s wanted to do is get rid of the grey/blue paint that we’ve had here for 20 years. We also decided to turn the front bedroom into a bunny room so over the weekend cleared it out and startred painting on Monday… here’s some before and after photos.

As you can see the girls on their stand are now up and I’ve moved their 2nd level down 1 rung so they have more room up the top where they seem to spend most of the time – had to cut pretty much half of the ramp off so they could still get up there.

Awwww, Amazing that you have the time to care for so many animals! I tend to obsess with my pets so even having my two buns is difficult for me at times!

LPT – She is a COMPLETE diva! She demands pets and gets rather upset if you do not comply. She’s quite strong and will nudge her head right under your hand regardless of what you’re doing. Thank God she is doing a whole lot better after her spay this week, much more energy! She has such a big personality. Herself and Thane spend a lot of time together in the afternoon snuggling and such. Still working on the litter training which can be frustrating at times but who can stay annoyed at such a sweet face?! Here’s an adorable pic of them from this morning:

She’s beautiful LPT! Very nice colours, and she looks so smart in her lunging gear! I work at a show jumping stables on Saturdays, and the owner is international show jumper David Dobson! You could probably search him up and pull up a load of information on him. I look after all his eventers!

 OMG! All these cute bunny pics makes me want to adopt more bunnies!!!! Unfortunately, the hubby says no more 🙂  Ironically, it was his idea to get the 1st bun.  And then I fell in love with the online pic of baby Boo – and had him drive me 4 hrs each way to adopt him 🙂

Baby Boo’s intro to Baxter.  We used the hampster ball for a few minutes each day …only lasted a couple weeks, cause he outgrew it :-).  They got exposure to one another, while keeping Boo safe.

Oh god, NBO. YOU ARE SOOO FREAKING LUCKY!!! I got that lucky with Fleury and Tanger – they were soulbuns at first site. Fleury and Tanger LOVED each other. From the moment they met, absolutely no problems. Of course at the time I was bonding them into a trio so it took longer because of Sidney. She hated Tanger. But loved Fleury. LOL.

 I felt like a tard keeping them in such a small space during bonding session. My husband was making fun of me because I was sitting in the hallway for like an hour “bonding” them but they weren’t doing anything! I was prepared for fights and stuff. Got my water bottle, dust pan to separate them, a glove on one of my hands *sigh* they like to make me look a fool in front of the hubby LOL! 

 

I still want to wait a little longer before allowing them to move in together… I’m still a little nervous or I’m just in denial that it could be THAT easy lol

 

6 hours into being together and still going strong  What I am loving the most about this is that Sally is actually hanging out in the living room. She has been in here all day and she usually never leaves the kitchen! I’m glad Harley boy is bringing her into the room where all the family is

 They don’t have “dates” anymore. They have been together over 24 hours now :p I left both of their cages open last night and they both went into Sally’s pen and slept together on their own accord! I guess I can collapse Harley’s cage now! I want to catch them on video binkying together it was sooo adorable watching them play but the lighting was just… terrible. I will catch it though! 

 

Here they are all moved in together! 

I was so nervous at feeding time because Sally is usually really possessive of her food but she seemed not bothered at all of him eating from her bowl. She didn’t care about him using any of her stuff such as litter box and chewing her phone book. They are a match made in heaven!

 NBO- I love that they’re living together, so freaking cute. You are lucky to have two wonderful buns that love each other now. I spy two little white cotton puffs peeking out of their behinds in the last photo… *squeal*

Well one night the bf was messing with her and picked up half her body and she doesn’t even notice b/c all she cared about FOOD! I’ll have to record how crazy hyper she gets when it’s dinnertime.

*Raises hand* Mine do, you would think I never feed them with how they act! They also go crazy for their veggies, but once I put the bowl of pellets down for them, they start to fight over it, no matter what. I’m planning on going pellet free in a year or so, I don’t what they’re gonna do then.

Yes, exactly! Sometimes she eats so fast, I’m afraid she’ll choke. We always say to her, “Calm down, slow your roll. Your food isn’t going anywhere.” She is never patient enough and usually tries to get into the bag or tips the bowl over spilling pellets b/c she’s clumsy and crazy. I think changing pellets would be a good idea b/c we noticed she’s been more insane since buying this “Gourmet Tropical Mix” bag of pellets that has dried fruit in it. I don’t think it’s healthy and try to pick out all the “junk food” in it. It might be good for a rabbit to just eat clean, fresh veggies and no pellets =D

I would definitely switch the pellets, NuggetBuns. Those kinds of food are so unhealthy for them. Also, to both BunnyDaddy and Nugget – make sure if you decide to do a veggie only diet you ONLY do it after consulting with their vet first. It takes a vets knowledge to be able to make sure you have a good mix of veggies to make up for all their nutritional needs.

Nugget – I LOVEEE that last photo! Hahahaha. And I have piggy buns too.. But it’s funny. They get so excited then take two bites and hop away. Then come back later. None of my buns gobble up their food! I guess I got lucky. Especially with having five because I’ve never had to worry about anyone hogging the bowl!

NBO – I can’t believe your luck!! They look so freaking cute together though! So happy for you!

Thank you for that info, I will wait until Nugget becomes an adult and consult with my vet when I decide to change diets. I’ve noticed that Nugget picks through the food and only goes crazy for the dried fruit and snacks that look like cereal. I always see the regular pellets left in the bowl. I won’t be buying the tropical mix anymore, but I have to slowly wean him off this bag. Oh yeah we discovered that Nugget is a boy over the weekend. I posted the news in the Q&A section.

It’s good that you don’t have “crazy for food” rabbits, esp when you have SO MANY! That would be really funny to watch, but also stressful to calm them all down when they just want to attack the food . Also love Nora’s binkies! She jumps so high! 

 

Bullrider- Cinnamon and Raven are so beautiful! I love that their bellies are white, so adorable! I wish I had a backyard to let my bun roam free. He hasn’t step foot on grass yet, but when summer rolls around, I’ll have to introduce Nugget to his ancestor’s home: the great outdoors!

Daisy- Bunny is gorgeous. Her coat markings resembles marble, truly unique! I love when they yawn too

Bunnygirl: I never quite understood how girls are able to paint their nails, especially with fancy designs (or any designs for that matter.) I chew on my fingers and nails when I’m nervous and someone suggested I used clear nail polish and long story short, I ended up with nail polish all over my hands, at least it was clear…  And it didn’t even work to stop me from chewing on my fingers. *shaking head*

Bunny Daddy: I used to chew mine too. But then I got into the habit of making my nails look pretty with nail polish and now, as long as they’re short, or painted, I don’t chew on them. If I leave them unpainted and they grow really long, I have to chew them, I can’t stop myself!  I also used to chew the skin off around my nails aswell…not good!
But I’ve found diverting myself when I’m nervous has also stopped me from chewing my nails. Somebody told me to blow on my thumb, that works to calm me, because I’m so concentrated on blowing on my thumb, I forget about whatever it was I was nervous about!

 This happens anytime I lay down on the couch. I have a bunny crawling all over my face/computer. Thank you, Lu.

Tonight, the bunnies enjoyed a salad of romaine lettuce, carrots, carrot tops, dandelion (leaves, stems and flowers.) and fresh timothy/orchard grass (which was my fault, I dump their litter boxes and wasted hay in our yard occasionally, because ground hogs dig holes in it, so i just fill holes with that, and BAM fresh grass for bunnies.) Man were they happy campers.

Also, tell me that I’m not the only one who enjoys watching bunnies eat.  

And another thing, the last photo would have been perfect if my phone wasn’t so slow, they both had pieces of lettuce in their mouths, but Nala dropped hers last minute (the green blur at the bottom corner.) and Duchess was chewing too fast I guess.

Haha that’s why I picked her in the first place, her hair was so funky, I loved it. (Of course, Duchess wasn’t planned, but I love her all the same, she’s got a great personality, and she’s so funny.)
