Hazel I love the sounds that ferrets make. The panting type sound is usually done when they are doing their little happy dance. I also use to call some of the other noises they make bock bock chicken sounds. It reminded me of chickens. When you get a couple of ferrets together playing you hear all kinds of interesting sounds. When he is making that noise and coming towards you he is saying ” Come play with me!” Have you ever made tunnels out of pvc piping for Bubbles to play in? We had bought some and got the connecting pieces and made all kinds of tunnels for the ferrets to play in. Then when they were not playing I would take it apart and put it away. I always changed it up for them.

Yes he does this panting noise when he’s playing and riled up. When he does his happy dance, he makes these “chicken” noises! We always say he’s laughing, it kind of sounds like laughter to us and it fits since he does it when he’s extra happy. But you’re right, it sounds a bit like a chicken, too! Sometimes he manages to escape from his room, and the only reason I usually notice is because he runs around laughing! I’ll hear little feet running down the hallway and think it’s Lily, until I start hearing manic laughter… He doesn’t understand that he shouldn’t draw attention to himself after escaping…

I have actually been thinking about getting some clear, flexible plastic tubing for him. It could go from his room around the living room and back. That way he could be out with us without getting into trouble. He hates being stuck in his room, he spends half his play time trying to get out. The hubby thinks he would tear the tube to shreds in a matter of minutes, though. What do you think?

AndHenry: Noooo, how could you not go to see Jack Sparrow??? You’re never too old to stalk a pirate! How cool that he was there, in character!

Megabunny: I’m so glad that Cottontail has you to talk to, I’m sure it helps her a lot.

JR: I hope you and Moshi get good news from the vet!
