OUR FORUM IS UP BUT WE ARE STILL IN THE MIDDLE OF UPDATING AND FIXING THINGS.  SOME THINGS WILL LOOK WEIRD AND/OR NOT BE CORRECT. YOUR PATIENCE IS APPRECIATED.  We are not fully ready to answer questions in a timely manner as we are not officially open, but we will do our best.

You may have received a 2-factor authentication (2FA) email from us on 4/21/2020. That was from us, but was premature as the login was not working at that time.

You can cut off the loose fur, but be very careful not to nick his skin. You should contact the vet again. Is it both eyes? Are the eyes red and irritated? The vet could prescribe antibiotic eye drops for starters, most commonly fucithalmic, to see if that will help. They should be able to do that without a new visit.

You can put a tiny it of vaseline on the cheeks under the eyes to protect the skin from the wetness. Try to gently clean the area first with saline (human saline eyewash for example) or water that has been boiled and cooled, then gently pat dry-ish with a clean compress or suchlike.

If antibiotic eye drops don’t help within a week, this needs to be investigated further.

Rabbits can get a piece of hay stuck under the eyelid, causing redness, inflammation and lots of wetness, but it’s unlikely that would happen with both eyes at the same time.
