Hey RetroSquid! Good to see you! 🙂
I wonder if it would be possible to bond one of the girls with Biscuits, then down the road, try the trio again? Obviously there’s the risk of breaking the bond, but perhaps the girls just need some time apart and perhaps they will forget they hate each other.

I swear girl-girl bonds are the hardest. It sounds like their hormones peaked in the spring (even spayed/neutered bunnies experience hormonal changes around this time of year) and then they just didn’t settle down again after that. Were you planning on keeping them as a trio? Or could you maybe just bond Biscuits to one of them?

Hmm… I’m wondering if some pain management might help. Has he been getting anything for that? How long is the antibiotic course supposed to be? You said he’s been on them for a week already, but sometimes these UTIs can be stubborn.
Is he just eating pellets/veggies in his house? Or is he eating hay in there too? My bunny is pretty good with…[Read more]

Hiya RetroSquid! It’s nice to see you! And hey, we all need to complain about something now and then. It’s all good. 😉

Hi, well. This is the first time I’ve been back here since our end of life decision for Daisy back in December 2021.
After swearing we would never get buns again, it happened. We sort of stumbled into bun parenthood again last year. Meet mother and daughter. Cinnamon (3-4yo) and Hopper (2-3yo)

We, somewhat foolishly, assumed that, as a bonded…[Read more] -

Long time since i’ve posted. House rabbit owner for 14 years now.
Our current six-year-old bunny is litter trained, always has been. Occasionally, there’s an accident outside his house on the carpet, but rarely.
He’s had maybe two suspected UTI before, many years ago, but recently he started weeing a fair amount outside of his house and always in…[Read more] -

I miss this place.
After we lost Daisy and our home was bunless for the first time in a decade, visiting here was just… painful.
I have been meaning to pop back a few times over the last 11 months, since we became bun-parents again, but something always seems to get in the way…
I’m now guilty of popping in just to have a moan. Not even a…[Read more] -

Have you tried taking bun outside to be brushed? I take one bun outside and place him on a little table. He behaves better this way; he’s super squirmy indoors and they have a hard time with him at the vet. Just have to make sure he doesn’t jump on my chest or head when I get close.

I had them in a neutral area this morning and it seemed to go fine. I just tried having them back in their area together and she pretty quickly chased him. So they’re back to being separated. Do I need to rebond? Give it time? how should I proceed.

Ok, great! I just reintroduced them in a neutral space for about 30 minutes, and it went pretty well. My male (the one who got surgery)  is still a little tense around her, but everyone generally seems a bit calmer. They hung out in the litter box together. I’ll still probably separate them today when I’m out so everyone stays safe, but maybe I’ll…[Read more]

I wouldn’t worry just yet. She is probably upset because he smells different. Keeping her separate temporarily is probably your best bet. You could try swapping some things to help “get rid of” the scent. Then try letting them see each other in a more neutral area to see how things go after that.

I’m not sure where this should go. I have a 10 year old lionhead who got dental filing yesterday. I brought his 8 year old lop bondmate with him to preserve the bond. Well, things were fine for a few hours back home, but come midnight I hear a noise. My lop is chasing my lionhead around. She did this all night. What’s weird is their bond seems in…[Read more]

That’s a good idea Bam. Maybe just take the cardboard one away for a little while, then try reintroducing it later.

Yes, a roof is important to buns. Keeps them safe from raptor birds. If you could mske some sort of roof for ot I think thst’d help a great deal.
I dont know how long they’d need to understand that there actually is no “intruder” (aka foster) occupying “their” cardboard house. Maybe if you remove it and put it back in a couple of weeks they’ll…[Read more]

They prefer the cardboard townhouse so much more than the wood one so I feel bad if I rid of the cardboard one but still so much poop. Can’t they figure out there’s no need for that as foster is long gone?
I’ve been putting treats in the wood one but still, no bun hangs out there. Maybe the the second level of cardboard has a roof over it and the…[Read more]

There are no nicks! Lol
If he gets a cord, it is chewed into a million pieces. He very much likes to partake in the spicy hay!

That possibly could be true. Fortunately, we have never had a problem with electrical stuff once the wire was taped. I used my laptop charger for a few years with the cord taped.
The only issue really was the lamp. Eventually it started to cut in and out with the cord, probably extensive damage. And with the cats knocking it over (twice on my…[Read more]

I heard tape should not be used if the wires are exposed or only temporarily/emergency until you get the cord fixed. Never had damage where the wires weren’t at least a little chewed too!
I’ve lost so many vacuums… Latest was the wet vac. While it was on (cleaning their mess), no buns around what-so-ever, then went away for a couple sec to pour…[Read more]

Yeah, we had an xpen in front of the corner where the wires run in from the wall to the router.
