EDIT 2: He passed away in his favorite place, my shirt. I’m brokenhearted.

EDIT: I woke up and my baby boy was laying on his side, his eyes open, his legs outstretched. Every time I pick him up he stretches out his front and back legs. If I dont support him, he falls onto his side. He tries to walk to my hand but he can’t seem to walk. Did he somehow get a back injury? I have little to no hope he will survive this, I’m just trying to warm him up right now.

Just a minute ago I noticed my 11 day old orphaned bunny’s mouth smells really bad! I couldn’t find anything about a bunny this young, but is it a bacteria imbalance?? Should I add more Bene-bac to his formula? I am needing to find out how much he weighs, so I have been doing the closest thing I could guess, but should I go up to 1/4 Teaspoon? I am currently doing 1/4 Teaspoon but I don’t have a measuring spoon that small so i have to guess a little. I hope someone can help!! Btw he is a wild rabbit.

I’m really sorry, Mae, but I have no experience with wild buns or newborns, so I’m hoping someone who does sees this post.

I know that bad breath or bad poop smell is a sign of something not right with grown buns… teeth or abscess or digestive issues. But this may not be the case with kits since the suckle rather than eat vegan.

So all I can do is *bump*.

I’m sorry. I once had a similar experience with an orphaned kitten. Passed away snuggled up against my neck while I was sleeping. It was heartbreaking and I felt so guilty even though I’d done everything humanly possible to save her. Sometimes there’s nothing you can do but give them love and affection for their final days.

                    I’m so sorry.
Bless you for giving him somewhere warm and safe for the reamainder of his days. It’s so hard at that age but you did all you could.
                    Binky free beautiful boy.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thank you for loving and caring for him, for letting him sleep in your t-shirt. It is very, very difficult to rear an orphaned bunny as young as that. You did what you could, it’s hard when it doesn’t work. I once tried to save a baby hedgehog born too late in the year. He didn’t make it.

Orphaned Baby buns are incredibly difficult to care for, and wild ones are harder, unfortunately.

I’m very sorry for your loss and I can imagine how difficult this if for you. It’s going to hurt for a long time but please try to take comfort in the fact that you tried to help this little guy the best way you knew how. You showed him love and you gave him a warm place to sleep. At least he was not alone in this world. I truly thank you for taking him in and helping him.
