My apartment complex has a master heater, so when its randomly cold out, I cant turn the heat on when I feel like it.  So my apartment fluctuates between 60 and 65 degrees! (farenheit)  I am absolutely freezing in my apartment and I figure, if I am chilly, is my bun?  I see the color in her ears fluctutate from bright pink to a rather white-ish pink.  They arent cold ears.  I am going to try to find a blanket instead of a sheet to cover her cage tonight but other than that, should I be worried?  How cold is too cold for an house rabbit?  Luckily, I think this random blast of cold wont last but still, its too much for me!  And my bun I am sure… she doesnt stretch out when she sleeps like she usually does… she curls up and gets all cute and “poofy” like (her hair isnt poofy, she just looks like a cottonball).

          60-65 is fine for bunnies

Definitely. Those temps are actually better for a bunny than the heat, so not to worry. They are wearing a fur coat after all.

Definitely no problem with that temperature. Bunnies prefer temps like that over warm weather.

thanks everybody, I tend to base how I feel weather wise with my horse as well, like tonight is high 30s and trying to figure out if she needs a blanket… so I ask myself, if I need a jacket, does she need a blanket? But then again, maybe I am just smothering my little ones with too much blankets. I do love blankets haha… sometimes I am so jealous of my bun that she has a full body of fur… I want to be covered head to toe in warmness! So not fair. Bunnies are lucky little butts.

I think if it’s habitable for humans it’s fine

Vivian has recently built up the blankets in her window lounge box.   Just a month ago, she had arranged her bed, but it wasn’t built up like this, and since things have gotten a bit more chilly, she has made changes that may keep her warm..  It’s quite messy, and there are hay pieces in there which she insists on adding and subtracting (normally by snacking on them –LOL, but she will also rearrange the bitty hay pieces too! ).   And she then snuggles in a gets cozy.

So, unless your bunny actually likes to eat blankets (nibbling holes is normal), then you may just want to supply some snuggly warm blankets for her to use if she wants.  I also recommend putting a blanket over the cage, or at least part of it if you think it’s getting too chilly.

It also depends on what a bunny is used to.  I mean around here it can be nice and warm around 70 degrees (as it was just less than two weeks ago), and then wham, a 20 degrees difference. (lower),   Not enough time for a bunny to molt in the fur they need, so depending on how fast there is a temperature difference, you may need to help keep things warm with blankets, etc until she gets used to it.

Thanks! I never thought of getting her some “nesting” blankets! I bet she would love them! She loves to snuggle on my bed comforter, but I dont want her getting that too dirty haha.

“Nesting” blankets — that’s a great term., never thought of that.  Even though she’s spayed, females definitely can have nesting behaviors.
                        “Nesting Blankets” —  Like it!

Price tip on the blankets — I just went to a discount fabric store and got yards of fleece.  Much cheaper than buying a blanket — though you can find those little lap blankets at target for a decent sometimes too.

For your bed comforter — does she like to mark it with poo and/or urine?   Not the most perfect solution but you could cover it with plastic and put blankets on top of that if you want to try and spend time with her up there but you don’t want to have to worry about your comforter getting dug up, rearranged and marked.
