my baby bunny March absolutely LOVES broccoli but I have heard that it can cause gas pain. Sometimes I worry I feed her too much or maybe my roommate feeds her some when I already have. Is there a for sure way to tell if my bunny has a tummy ache? Sometimes when she’s tired she sits all hunched up which I’ve heard can be a sign,  and I rub her belly in the evenings to relieve any possible pain and she doesn’t seem to mind but Is there a sign more reliable than others if my bunny ever has a tummy ache?

Hmmm. First, I think the verdict is still out about how much gas rabbits get from broccoli, though I doubt anyone would recommend you give more than a few little bits at a time. Of course, they stop pooping, they do sit hunched, but sometimes they just sit up normally and I think Cottontail’s rabbit actually gets a grumbly stomach, but then, he’s an odd duck (I say that lovingly) so who knows? I think you would feel his tummy be more taught, which it sounds like you check for. Have you heard of the simethicone drops? You should have those on hand for gas relief, though I don’t know how much to give/pound.They’re sold in the baby section of stores for gas relief.

How old is your bunny? I’d take it easy on the broccoli, esp. if she is really young
