Hi, I have 3 rabbits all under a year old, my bonded pair – dandelion and chip, have been living together in the same pen for a week after a month of living side by side getting used to each other. Last week my boyfriend brought a beautiful 8 week old long haired rabbit home called tiger-lily.
She accidentally got into dandelion’s pen when we first brought her back and dandelion attacked her and made her scream, which was horrible . Tiger-lily lives in a pen next to dandelion and chip and dandelion will try to bite her through the bars when tiger-lily tries to groom her.
Chip appears to be fine with her, though.
Anyway I’m really desperate for all three rabbits to get along but I’m worried that after the horrific meeting on the first day and the biting through the bars will mean the two female rabbits will never get on? It really upsets me because tiger-lily is such a sweet rabbit and I don’t want her to be lonely or miserable if dandelion continues to be aggressive with her. I really really don’t want to give tiger-lily away and i know it’s still early days but she deserves to live in an environment where she feels happy and safe.
So yeah, any advice/ similar experiences welcome!! Xx

You may end up having to move Tiger-lily to a different location for a little bit. It sounds like Dandelion is trying to tell Tiger-lily to get out of her territory. I have never put my unbonded boy in the room that my two bonded boys call their territory. Usually when my boys get into it during bonding sessions, I give them a few days break to help them forget the bad experience. But an experience like that may take longer than a few days to get over for your bunnies. You could try and start bonding Chip and Tiger-lily, then add Dandelion in later on. I’m currently trying to bond a trio as well. Two are bonded together and the other isn’t, just like your bunnies. I know the pains of feeling like they’ll never get along. You may have to just start with stress bonding right away with Dandelion and Tiger-lily. One of my males would always start a fight when I was early on with bonding them. I got a suggestion to start taking them for car rides, which really helped. I took them all three in car rides for I think two to four days. When I first put them back together after doing car rides for a few days, they hardly fought. They sometimes get into it still, (still in the process of bonding them) but nothing compared to when I first started bonding. If you put them in a carrier, enough room for them to be comfortable, yet not enough room to fight, then that would work. I put my three males in a cat carrier together. Sometimes I took just my two who would fight for solo stress bonding trips, so you can try just taking Dandelion and Tiger-lily for a few days. Though, you’ll want to make sure you can stop a fight if one does happen to start. I would have someone else drive me around and I would sit in the back with the buns. I would keep the carrier door open just in case. Either you or your boyfriend could drive while the other sits in the back with the buns. My boys were too scared of the unfamiliar place to start fights, but I can’t guarantee that that means your bunnies won’t try to fight in the carrier. If Chip isn’t trying to bite Tiger-lily through the bars like Dandelion is, it sounds like bonding them first will go a lot more smoothly than trying to bond Dandelion and Tiger-lily right now if you feel comfortable with doing so.
