I swear, one day he loves me and the next 3 days, he can’t stand me.  Is this normal?  He always loves my husband and comes to him when he calls.  It’s very annoying since I’m the one who does all the rabbit care.  The past few days were not good bunny days.  I was even eating an apple and tried to share with him, but he would not even come close to me.  What’s up with that??  Are rabbits moody?  It’s like he’s a teenage girl.

Yes they sure can be moody!! I have the same experience to some extent-I’m the one who has to bath bums, wash eyes, do eye drops, clean anal glands, clip nails and brush. Dave gives lots of treats. Rupert definitely likes Dave more then me NOT fair! LOL Your guy is neutered right? If yes, then it’s likely just moodiness and not horomones.

My gosh is that a cute bunny!!

OH YEAH. They’re moody. Sophie is anyway. Some days she’s a snuggle bunny and very lovey dovey, then she’s a bratty who only wants my attention when i am reading or talking on the phone. My favorite is when she head butts my boyfriend because he’s snuggling with me on the couch. She literally jumps up on the couch, running, charges and head butts. She throws her food dish around at 4:30 in the morning and I had to go away on Catastrophe duty for 3 weeks for Hurricane Ike back in September and October and when she saw me walk in the door, you would have thought I was Santa. Within 3 minutes, she nipped me and wouldn’t acknowledge my presence for DAYS. Whoever says they have no knowledge of time should come to my house after the next Catastophe. We’ll see then…it took me days to get back in her good graces.

Sigh. So yes, my bunny is moody!

My bunny is 13 months old and she was neglected by her previous owners. Now she is inside and we’ve had her inside for a week it will take time to get her trust but she too is quite moody. I hope overtime she is less moody we are getting her spade on October 8 so fingers crossed she’ll mellow out. I mean she doesn’t bite but she occasionally will stomp. Overall though with time she’ll realize we love her and she’s safe and will become happier

                Do you mean:

Me: “Hey Jackson let me give him a full nose rub and some body pets today for the first time ( after living with him for 2 months)
Husband: “What do you mean? I pet him all the time – he never refuses nose rubs…”

Cough-Cough. Yeah. I am salad buyer and washer and chopper – litter box cleaner, habitat engineer, Hay shopper, Poop anthropologist, Anal gland cleaner – the whole thing.

Who do they BOTH dance around? My husband – who walks in, hands out a grape and becomes Bunny God in their eyes.

Recently Jersey remarked that Coco looks a bit like Elizabeth the First…and Yeah. She has the same attitude. She is frequently Not amused.

Yep, they can be very moody. Sometimes like they don’t want bothered at all, unless you are giving them a treat! So it is normal and it can be hormones too. My male bunny, Valen is so much more affectionate since his neuter. He just loves to give bunny kisses!

Sometimes things we don’t even think about, like scent, can make a bunny not recognize you and give you the cold shoulder. Any new soaps. lotions, perfumes?

Also, if a bunny is not spayed/neutered….well watchout….Bunny Moodiness can be the least of your problems. I don’t know/remember who’s bunny is altered, so I had to throw that in there.

I think bunnies are just plain moody. period. Like the weather. Which doesn’t effect their mood in a predictible way.
                        They are just moody.
                        And changeable within minutes.
                        Or stubborn for hours/days.

Maybe there’s a secret pattern, like the third Thursday of every month, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

(But I should add that some negative moods can actually be an attempt to disguise pain or illness, so just keep an eye on the bigger picture, like positions, eating and pooping.)

They say misery loves company and in this case it is true. While I am not miserable I am comforted by the fact that I am not the only one with a moody bunny. Our rabbit Stu, who I just adore, is a moody guy. He is a little aloof and snobbish. If I bring him food that he doesn’t like I don’t even need to guess how he feels about it. And the last couple of times I picked him up, he gave me a nip. The funny thing is, my twin sister was visiting and he went right over to her for a snuggle. But I just love this guy. He does spend most of the time out of his cage and loves to hang out with the guinea pigs and sniff the cats. We have had him a few months. He was just about a year when we adopted him and I have no history of his former owners. Maybe he is having trust issues.
