So I had built Oreo a new cage with NC cubes, and I was a dummy and built the opening at the top for some reason and was having to pick him up. He started to protest and runt o the other side of the cage. So I went out and bought a big pack of binder clips…only to find out now it has been two days and Oreo refuses to come out I could have it open all day today it was 8 hours and just wont move out of the cage. I tried to entice witht reats and food etc and nothing

Should I jsut leave Oreo be??

sometimes mine won’t come up for long either.    Try temping him with treats see if that gets him out.  You can also lie them at the door of his house to see if that will work too. If after a few days I would take him out if he hasnt’ come out at all.

i bet he really loves his new condo! give him time, let him enjoy the new space and i bet he’ll start to venture out on his own once the novelty wears off.

my two love their xpen. i can have their door open and sometimes one or the other (or both) will still choose to sleep in there. it’s a safe place for them…

Yep mine do the same thing when they have a new condo design.  They enjoy spending the time in there and sometimes don’t want to come out.  Tucker is like that.  She likes her door open so that she CAN come out, most times she’ll bite the bars until I open the gate to it ..but then she’ll run up and hang out on one of her levels and not come out for HOURS if not all day!!!  She likes the option of coming out..but not necessarily the coming out itself.  LOL

Drue on the other hand..once that door is open he’s off!  He runs around for a bit, takes a nap in the bathroom and then later will come back and hang out in his condo.  But unless the door is closed he’s on his bottom level or on his “front porch” which is the area where it’s plywood covered with tile but is outside the condo walls.  He likes to lounge out there..close enough to his litter box, his hay and his water but still outside the condo.

I was thinking and it could be because of the hardwood floors, his whole cage is carpet……..so when i visit my mom next week end I am going to make sure to get more carpets samples from my brother and see if it will at least make hime want to come out on the sample for a bit, his cage is a fair size if he choses not to come out, not a huge deal but i just felt bad……I cant wait for Harley to be fixed so that I can have the bunnies on the same floor all the time

That’s a good thought! He may just feel like Bambi on ice when he steps out!
