Ok this is really random but I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere online. Why can’t we see our credit score on our free once a year credit report checks? I really don’t want to pay for a monthly credit monitoring service or like $50 at myFICO just to see my score, but I feel I should since I haven’t checked it yet.

Hahaha Poopy – if there is ever an award for most random posting I have seen so far, I think this wins but that IS a good point…I wonder if anyone is stealing my identity…I hope not…need to make sure I always have enough to buy hay and pellets..the necessities of life! I don’t really know to much about credit checks myself, I usually just check once a year to see what mine looks like.

Credit checks don’t show you your score so its LAME-O! I just signed up for a 30 day free trial at myfico.com JUST so i could check my score then I am cancelling at the end of the month. Sad that consumers have to pay to see their own credit score which controls their lives basically. I think I might buy one of the cheaper credit alerts for like $10/mo. up until the time I can buy a condo so that no identity theft or errors can screw up my chances.

Just thought it would be good to ask here since BB and other members are older and have dealt with this stuff before.

You can go to a bank and tell them you want to find out about a loan and they can do a full credit report and it will show your credit check and everything about you.

Have you tried all 3 reporting agencies (Equifax, TransUnion and Experian)? I received my free credit report online and it did have the credit score. Maybe you should call them directly.

My free credit reports never came with my score! Oh and if you go to a bank and inquire it lowers your credit score if they do an inquiry on you btw.

It does lower your credit score if you go to a bank, but it is probably the safest way. Because when you get a credit card and they run your credit it does the same thing, and the credit reports online also do this. Thats why it is not good to get a credit card from every store you shop at, instead have one with rewards. Like Discover has a card that gets you 5% back on gas purchases and 1% back on all other purchases, something to think about

You usually have to pay an extra fee to get the credit score with the reports (Argh!) Such a rip off in my opinion, but I still paid anyway. I use creditreport.com, and pay for a service that gives me monthly reports and also alerts me anytime something has changed on my report.
