Okay, I am posting my screencaps of these in hopes that it may be able to help shed a light on the problems I've been having with the board lately. I am sure some of this may be due to my ISP (who stinks on ice) but the one that causes me the most grief is the 'request timed out' error, which often results in double posts, as Firefox requires you to resend information if you want to reload a page.

Sadly, it is a real hassle to go back to the homepage, look up the thread you were posting in and ascertain whether your post showed up or not. Hence why I tend to take the easy way out and resend. >.<

Oh and btw, I am still not receiving subscription to thread notifications, but I fear this is due to some new spam mail policy by my Stinky ISP, as I am not receiving emails from another site I frequent either. So off I go to their settings homepage to see what's what...if I can remember my login and passwords, that is. 0_o

I got fed up with those messages last week and did a search for a fix. I found out that the latest version of Firefox, #3, is doing this to massive numbers of people. It's really awful, and the computer geeks on line posting questions and answers have not been able to resolve it, at least not the ones I turned up in google. It's really driving me nuts. Maybe a massive BinkyBunny protest to Firefox will get them to fix this ridiculous mystery glitch and come out with #4. I never thought I'd think a new version of Firefox would be worse than IE. argh.

Oh dear. That's what I was afraid of. I bet that's what's been causing all my computer problems lately.

I upgraded to #3 too. And it's been awful. i can't tell you how many times it's logged me out of sites for no reason, blocked things I don't have blocked, totally screwed up my antivirus/spamware so that I had to just dump it. >.< I was really hoping it wasn't a Firefox issue, but....

Urgh...add my name to the poison pen letter, please. ~_~

I haven't decided whether to dump it because as usual I loaded it up with saved favorites. However, I've had Outlook saving a copy of all my gmails, so that's no problem.

I was wondering if we could elect to go back to Mozilla 2 - or is that dust now?

No idea. I would if I could, believe me. But I don't even know where I'd start looking for it.
I suppose it's possible an older version could still be on my system somewhere, but I kind of doubt it. I think I got a cleaning frenzy going recently and wiped a whole bunch of stuff off my drive. ~_~

Hmph. From now on when I'm prompted to upgrade, if I even get a choice, I'm going to give it the big NOT OK.

Actually, if I get a chance to upgrade to Firefox 4 I'm going to take it. It will probably have fixed this latest headache and a reason to dump 3 is good enough for me.

I did more searching, starting with the Mizilla Firefox Help page (duh) and got into some confusing guts techie info. One of the things I found was a page listing my bookmarks, so I copied it to a Word doc where the links show, then went through and deleted a ton of saved websites. There's the possibiility that the bookmark and download history piles up, even when cleaned, and it might have taken some of the load off. I'll see if it makes a difference.

Also, go to Tools and click Clear Private Data, getting rid of cookies as well as history etc. You'll need to login to BB again, but it will save it. That way you clean up Firefox junk. Or not. Or maybe I just wasted 2 hours of my life...

I always clear my cookies and history after every session. I have snoopy son and hubby, so I don't need them looking up where I've been. (Especially when it's Ebay.) >.<
So too many bookmarks may be a problem huh? *groan* Oh joy, just how I want to spend an evening, eliminating those one by one. 0_o; I've only got about half a million or so.
I suppose I could do the copy and paste thing, but then I'll have another file on my hard drive cluttering things up that I won't remember where it's put at. Somehow, for me, it's not cleaned up until it's cleaned OFF. ^_^ Just my Ob/Comp talking there.

I know how you feel.
I had to decide where to save it and just pasted it all in a list on a word doc and put it in my Documents, clearly marked (Bookmarks, Firefox, date) so even on a duh day I might find it. It's the second time since I had to switch from MSN (10 years of it) to a newer one last year.

Thing is, if you leave them in the categories you've already arranged them in, and especially if the links still copy (these did for some reason) they're right there. AND, I found that I never go back to my old favorite's list anyway. So many were interesting at the time but later I just said "huh? gone." Believe me, I still have a "short" list of at least 20-30. Well, so far it's only timed out once yesterday after that. Maybe it didn't make any difference at all.

I want Firefox 4, glitch free, and I want it NOW!!!

I'm curious, Pam. Do you find that MS Word in XP doesn't work as well as previous versions? I find I have a heck of a time with it. It asks me to save changes when I didn't make any, won't open a new doc for me sometimes when I already have one open, and won't cut/copy and paste unless it is opened first (apparently has no access to Clipboard unless it's been initialized beforehand.)

*sigh* I second the motion for Fox4. ;_; And something better than Vista for an OS.

My Word in XP doesn't seem to do the things you mentioned. Did you install it from a disc? Mine came with my latest computer (3 years old now) and has been fine. My Word at my job 2 years ago was terrible. But then, they had no graphics software for me to use so I kept trying to create docs with photos and designs in Word. Ugh. Anyway, you probably should try a little clean up of that program. How often do you defragment? Try that, plus you can run a scan with your anti-virus just targeting that program only. Maybe something will turn up/clean up. If you did install it yourself, you could reinstall it in case you picked up a glitch that won't go away.

I could have sworn I heard that a post-vista program is already being worked on.

Ah, I've tried everything. I've searched the options features to make sure I didn't bugger something up (and yes, it was a standard proggie with my computer when I got it about 5 years ago-so I didn't install it), I've tried the defrags and the antivirus, etc. It's just a pain in the neck to use.

Ah well. Someday my prince will come...lolz. ^_^
