Is it still considered bonding if the two buns live together without fighting but don't really seem to have a close relationship? My two buns pretty much stay away from each other, especially the female. They seldom eat together and they don't sleep together. I never see them play together or chase each other, but they will clean each other from time to time. From watching them, I'm thinking that it's my female that is a little standoffish.  There is never any fighting, at all.

Do you think they will get closer eventually or is this the way they bond?

How long have they been together so far? If newly bonded then they may still be working things out, however if it's been awhile, then some bunnies "co-exist" just fine but aren't really bonded. They may in time become more bonded, but some bunnies just do exist this way with each other.

I have 2 pairs and really I see one pair lay together - no grooming. The other pair is I THINK mother and son and they just basically live together - I have never seen them groom or anything else - only when they are scared to I see them hide by each other doing their ostrich rabbit trick.

The other pair are 2 females - I have no idea about their relationship either - they came from the shelter that way and the shelter had some information but I suspect it was totally inaccurate as people lie when they surrender animals. They lay next to each other and eat together but that's about it.

I do bunnysit a pair though that play together and groom.

I have to say it depends - really tolerance is okay in my opinion - it means they like each other and that's a good thing.

Wow, that is a relief! ^_^ I've been wondering lately if it's any good to keep trying with my two, but if they can coexist peacefully and that's a good thing, well, I'm going to keep at it.

I think that if they co-exist well, I think they they are probably pretty well bonded. The non-bonded pairs will definitely have fights or at least spats about who is dominant etc. I have one pair that only sleeps together at night, during the day they have their own separate sleep spaces that they prefer. If they are occasionally grooming each other, and are co-existing peacefully, I think its definitely a good idea to keep them together.

Joey and Phoebe have been living together for about 2 months and it's my male Joey who is the dominant one. Phoebe will run from him whenever he comes close to her but they've never fought since moving in together.

 

Thanks for the reassurance.....I'm happy to know that they can live together as long as they don't fight.
