hmmmmm not sure. i dont advise anythign that has to be ingested to enhance a bun’s smell though. i have been feeding my bun mint lately and the poos are not as smelly. not sure about her pee though. do you clean her cage daily? when i did that my place didnt smell like buns at all. especially if i did it twice a day. i use yesterday;s news for their litter and apparently if you put too less, it doesnt work but if you put alot, it seems to work more. maybe it can also be the amount of sugars that they ingest. too many treats maybe??? when i feed them too many carrots thats what happends. that and i bought this deoterisor spray and after i clean i spray and wait till it dries then let them in. after i refill their litterbox before i put in the hay i spray some too. not too much. the deoterisor does not smell so i think it is ok. no idea how it does it but hey, it seems to work. havent done it lately because ive been really really really really really really really (u get the point) with school, coming closer to the end of the semester so i got papers and finals to do but when i clean every day, it smells alot better. my mum says. =)

o, i forgot to mention, i think my parents got the spray at either target or pet city. they got it initially for their hamsters but you can use it for buns aswell. this is what the bottle looks like and this is the cheapest ive found online.

I have seen a product in the bunny aisle at Pet Smart that is supposed to reduce the odor of bunnies’ feces and urine, but I do not know if it is safe. My Rex-Mini Lop Shmello has really strong urine too. I do plan on getting her fixed in the next month or two, but would like to ease the smell in the meantime.

I wouldn’t recommend using the product unless a knowledgeable rabbit vet were to recommend it. Many products say thy’re safe for bunnies, but aren’t really great for them. Unfixed bunnies tend to have much stronger scented urine and often spray as a territory marker, since he was neutered so recently, it may take a little time for the scent to diminish.

Some other tips for reducing odor from San Diego Rabbits Online Newsletter :

                  1. When you change the litter, be sure to rinse the box *thoroughly* with water. Occasionally giving it a white vinegar rinse will help keep calcium residues down and control the odor. Be sure to wash the bottom of the box as well.

                  2. Be sure there is no urine *under* the box or around the boxes in areas that are not wiped up. These get to smelling foul very quickly. If you do have a spot where the urine tends to seep in, remove the box, scrub the area thoroughly with white vinegar and rinse well with water. You might even want to bleach it, but be sure to rinse away all the bleach before you let bunny near the area.

                  3. Line the boxes with newspaper and a rabbit-safe litter, such as CareFresh, Yesterday’s News (now available for rabbits), or Feline Pine. (Do not use clay-based or clumping cat litter which can be dangerous for bunny if consumed). Top off the litter box with a large handful or more of hay. Bunnies like to munch on hay and use their litterbox at the same time.

                  4. CHANGE THE LITTER BOX EVERY DAY. If you line the box with newspaper, its easy to dump the waste into a trashbag for disposal or use for composting.

I wanted to add that it was about 6 weeks after I got Fujoe, my male rabbit neutered before I noticed a difference in the stinky smell.

Also, every once in a while- actually maybe everyother day I notice the bad smell. Well, ever since I got my second bunny Patina. I think he’s “marking.” It’s just as stinky as it was before he was fixed. I gagged pretty bad yesterday when changing the litter. So, do you have another bunny or another pet that you think he might be “marking” against? Or maybe when guests come over? I was really upset once the smell came back- esp since it was almost a year after being fixed. But I’m certain as Fujoe and Patina’s bond gets stronger, that the stinky pee smell should go away again.

I’ve also noticed that keeping an air purifier near the cages help a lot.

As Fujoe said, sounds like it could still take a while. Also, have you cleaned the scent glands lately? If after much time has passed after the neuter, then perhaps see a vet as it (remotely) could be some sort of problem like kidney stuff that is resulting in concentrated urine. But since he is young, I would really doubt this. Your bun is adorable btw!
