Sometimes you just see and know.  Other times, a personality gets ya.  What was it about your bunny that made you choose him/her?

i was stuck between a little white mini with blue eyes, and dougal. the white one was very placid and lovely, and would’ve stayed small, but dougal was sitting there cleaning his little face and was so grumpy being held. i just couldn’t help myself! i always have a thing for wild coloured bunnies, unfortunately, they do seem to act the most wild!

i sometimes wonder if i should have got the white one – that’s terrible really! hee. i would’ve like to have got them both, but two boys, oo bad. i always used to just no, it was really hard choosing this time round. and the guy at the garden centre said it should be a boy as easier, and we’ve always had girls, and my mum said girl then suddenly she was like, get a boy then! so i did. but keep calling dougal a she. he doesn’t appreciate it very much!

originally i saw a boy lionhead in another centre and wanted that one, but that was when my mum said i should get a girl! why do i listen!

i went straight to 2 brothers, lollo the black dwarf lop and (since named in my head) sooty the grey dwarf lop. my friend was saying ‘the grey one, he’s soooo cute!’ which was very true, and he nearly came home with me… until lollo started jumping on top of him trying to reach the top of the cage to see what was going on and i thought ‘now there’s a bunny with personality’. turns out its stronger than i couldv imagined!

i too sometimes wonder if i shouldv chosen the other. mainly when i’m struggling to make lollo the happiest bunny in the north east. its a tough job. but i think too i wouldv loved to bring them both home, they were so different and i’d get something different from each of them. and i love lollo to bits regardless!

We actually went to the pet store to investigate getting a chinchilla.  Once there we started looking at the rabbits, all of them were adorable.  My dh thought he wanted to get a lop but I saw this little one and, once I got to hold him, it was love at first sight.  DH said he took one look at the look on my face while I was holding Sable and decided then and there that he was the right rabbit for us.  I carried my new furbaby around the store while we shopped for all of his accoutrements and didn’t let go of him until we were putting him in a carrier box to take home.

well they say you pick the first bunny and all the others are picked by the first bunny 🙂

I picked Niklaus because he was at the SPCA for 8 months and he was still very sweet and interactive. Niklaus picked Hareiette (well I think she told him he’s BETTER pick her, lol) at a adoption show.

Hareiette picked Pandora at an adoption show. We cheated and fell in love with Viktor since he wouldn’t stop licking us. We ran home and picked up Pandora to see what she thought of him.  We got VERY lucky, it was love at first site.

My bunny, Noble, was my foster bunny. His sweet disposition and big brown eyes won me over. Now he has been my bunny for 3 years. As soon as I figure out how to load his picture, you will see how handsome he is.

Hi Jacki!  To put an “avatar” (pic with name), you click on “My Profile” at the top area of the forum – under “Forum Leaders”   It will automatically set it to the right size, so since the picture will be small, it’s best to have a picture that is pretty close-up.  If you have any problems doing this, just email me or post in the “Tech question” area.

                              Pepper pretty much picked me!

I had planned for years to get a bunny, and was finally in a position to get one.  I had already been in touch with the local shelter about a coupe of questions, so we set up a time where I could come sit in  a pen and they would bring me bunnies!  Each time they gave me a small handful of parsley to introduce myself with.  I had told them that I was more than willing to take an older bun, so they mostly brought me older females who had been there a while.  Since I was book-learned but inexperienced with buns I really wanted a less high-strung and possibly more forgiving rabbit.

All accepted my offerings but most really ignored me.  But Pepper, once she had her nibble and her hop-around, actually stretched out on the floor to chill out – she stayed just out of reach but I was thrilled that she was comfy enough to sprawl out near me.   The volunteer came back, looked for a minute, giggled and said "I think we have a winner!"

Let’s see…we have three, in order:

DJ – our first bunny.  I corresponded with Heather from The Rabbit Haven about adopting a pair of bunnies, and she invited us to a rabbit adoption show to meet her and maybe meet some other bunnies.  Well, you know what happens when you go to an adoptions show….DJ was there in a pen fighting with his litterbox.  he did not like where it was, and kept trying to move it.  He had a lot of personality, so we sat with him for a while, fell in love, and he came home with us.

Curly Sue – We met her at an adoption show, spent a long time sitting with her and petting her (she is a snuggle bun) and decided to intriduce her to DJ.  They liked each other, and that was that.

Deanna – She came to us as a foster bunny and never left.  My wife fell in love with her.  THese are the dangers of fostering.

We found Edward at a feed store, we stopped there to get some hay for our other bun (our usual place was closed). He was in a glass tank with about 10 guinniepigs- the girl told us he was the last of a litter of about 8 who had all been sold about 2 weeks ago- he was being bullied by the nasty piggies and was almost bald. When we went up to the tank he stood up and looked at us, so we managed to convince them to let us take him (they were going to “get rid of him” if no-one brought him!!!!!!!!!).
Josephine we got here in CA from the Bunny Bunch and Edward chose her…… hopefully he’s not regretting his decision ’cause she’s such a cutie! I think they love each other!

both emo and mochi looked like the calmest and they were not brown like the others. but the calmest didnt last so long. they are both so comfortable, their true colors showed. but truthfully, i wouldnt have it any other way. =) they have just started jumping on the couch and sitting with me with the occational running around the couch then back down and around the floor. =) emo is much better too for any of you who have read my other posts. she will let us pet her for a short 3 seconds. now she is not scared to go near us. which is great. =)

what a great question! Sophie was the “runt” of a friend’s bunny’s litter. She had 7 bros and sis’ and needed special attention, so I took her home with me in a shoebox with a heat lamp. I fully intended to give her back so that she could be adopted, but after having that little bunny the size of a hamster sleeping on chest for the first week of her life, I was a goner. She was my baby!

I am terrible when it comes to animals and i’d want to take the lot home, so fortunately for me Brian was a present for the boyfriend, and the best choice he has ever made!    We saw a gorgeous baby lionhead on saturday, (a baby Bum in white and grey), but they also had a stunning netherland dwarf with the most amazing eyes, so decided it was going to be impossible to choose, ever, and Bum will have to be patient whilst I find some new pink fluffy boot slippers .

well…. sounds awful but i was going to chose Mogul who was a gorgeous black and white bun who was playing with a ball showing off to us when we visited the rescue centre and i was extremely tempted… but… I found out Teddy had been at the shelter for over a year, couldnt be paired (they’d tried but he kept getting beaten up) and was lonely and even looked sad.. so even tho he wasnt the fun one… I felt he needed me more than Mogul did and someone would snap up Mogul straight away so that was it.. Teddy was ready to come home with me 2 weeks later and now he’s certainly not sad, lonely or anything but a rascal who makes me chuckle when he races and bumps into things.

haha. well me and bf had our hearts set on getting a bunny one day. at the time we didn’t know about rabbit shelters… so that was out of the picture.. all we knew is we wanted a girl, lop ear.. we went to the first pet store.. and they had no lops.. so we had them give us the number to another pet store and they said they had a couple.. so we literally sped over there!! haha.. when we got there, there was 2 lops.. a grey male.. and our pretty agouti girl.. we both thought the grey bunny was cuter.. but we wanted a girl… so we picked lilly.. but now we think she is the cutest bunny we have EVER seen : ) ..

haha.. not such a touching story like the rest of yours’ though!!

I liked Medusa because she had soft fur—very nice coat and full fluffy tail. Alot of the other buns had nasty rough coats. Even though Medusa was running around backyards before she was rescued she still managed to keep her hygiene—guess she is obsessively clean like me.

Carrera & Pookie are both from petstores. I got Carrera four years ago. I realized the only animal with fur I wasnt allergic to was bunnies so I had to have one. I picked Carrera out immediately. She was so cute with her brown and white coloring and big feet.

I wanted a dwarf really bad so two years ago we got Pookie. She is still very skiddish and the only time I am "allowed" to love on her is when she lays at the top of the stairs. Then I can kiss and love on her all I want.

Cooper came from the shelter. I fell in love with him as soon as I played with him and went back and got him two days later.

I inherited Sprinkles from my friend’s boss. She was stuck in a wooden hutch all day and harrassed by the family dog! I took her initially for my daughter … but she did not really have an interest in Sprinkles … so guess she has been my bunny for the past 3 years!

Luey was also a rescued bunny and was given to me by a breeder. Luey was taken to the breeder after the former owner had no need for him and did not like his biting habits. He was going to be put down by the breeder if she could not find him a nice home. Guess I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him.
