Help!! I am moving from San Francisco to Athens, Georgia. My severe asthma will not allow my rabbit to join me for the long drive. Can anyone recommend a reliable, caring pet mover? Thanks! Jillian

well at least it's not Athens, Greece right?

I only know about rescue related transport resources and they're unfortunately not open to the public. There are companies who can help you move your pets, like http://www.pro-pet-transports.com/rates.php but I don't really know how attentive they are to pets.

Do you have any friends who could watch your bunny while you're driving and then fly your bunny out to you?  Not all of the airlines allow bunnies, but there are several like Delta and Continental do.  It might be less traumatic in the long run....

Welcome jrguarco!  Wow, what a predicament.  There has got to be a way. I will also ask around and research around.  How much time do you have before you make the big move?

Thank you! I have to put my rabbit in boarding for the month of August and then i leave August 31st. I am having such a difficult time finding any solutions. Argh!

Egads, for a whole month!  Why for so long?   Wow, that's going to be a pretty penny. If you haven't found a place yet for boarding, I can recommend www.saveabunny.com http://www.saveabunny.com/services.php#boarding

I volunteer there once week, so if you do end up going that route, I'd be sure to give your bunny some extra attention that day.

As far as transport goes, I actually came across this link by accident while I was on another bunny related site.  http://www.flypets.com/
I have never used them, and  know nothing more about them except for it was in the links section of another house bunny site.

Also, you can check Craigslist rideshare section and see if you can work out a deal.  Check out this person who is moving from San Francisco to Atlanta, (I don' t know how far from Athens) and maybe there is someone who could meet her there and take care of your bunny until you arrive?

Even if that one doesn't work out, maybe there will be another, if the person really wants the safety of someone else with them on a long trip, you could make deal to follow each other and still pay for her to transport your bunny, gas etc. just as if you were riding with.  That way you could check on your bunny too.  And that would be safer for you bunny, so you could keep an eye on him.  Or at least you'd have to really educate the driver about things to watch for, keeping the car cool, etc etc.

I don't know if this will help, but I came across this portable pet purifier for the car from American Pet Diner, and I thought of you.    You can call them too and see if may help with your situation, or talk to your doctor about it.

There is a testimony that these purifiers helped with someone's allergies.
