I got my male mini lop Oliver (almost 1 year old) neutered 2 weeks ago because I wanted to put an end to his incessant humping (me) as well as peeing on my bed and places other than his litter box. I’m very disappointed because, $300 later, his behavior hasn’t changed whatsoever—he is still constantly trying to hump me and has peed on the bed again. Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do? I feel like I just wasted $300 that I worked very hard to save (I’m a broke full time college student). Does it take a while after the surgery for their hormones to die down or something? Please provide any help you can, as I just can’t deal with the humping and spraying and I was hoping that the $300 surgery would solve all these problems

It can take up to 6 weeks for the hormones to completely disappear. Don’t be discouraged. Neutered rabbits live longer, healthier, and happier lives. You made the right choice. You can try giving him a stuffed animal for him to put all his “energy” into just until the hormones settle. Usually, they will hump the animal instead. You can also give a bigger litterbox if the neutering doesn’t help. Many times, when a rabbit pees on your bed, they are trying to tell you something. (Such as, spend more time with me, give me more hay, etc) Otherwise, block access to the bed with a pen.

Yes, it can take a few weeks to a few months for their hormones to die down. Just give him some time =)
