Some people do keep their rabbits in large dog crates. Your rabbit will need adequate out of cage time every day for exercise in a bunny proofed room.

If a rabbit is overweight and loses weight, the dewlap will get smaller. Rabbits that are spayed at a young age normally develop only small dewlaps. Rabbits that have had babies or that are not spayed until they are older will have larger dewlaps.

I kept my Olivia in a large dog crate for over a year with a few hours of out time and she was fine.

She also had a dewlap when I got her around age 1 and after spaying and losing some weight it went away completely.

I can’t answer about the dewlap but about the dog cage, yes! My small bunnies each have a large dog cage that came with a divider. I rigged the divider horizontally, covered with cardboard and carpet, as a second level “loft”. They love it.

After they adapted to their new home, with several hours of supervised playtime each evening, I now leave the cages open and have bunny-proofed the bedroom so they are free range in the bedroom.

Since their litterboxes, water, hay rack, and food dishes are in their cages, they come running to their cages for meals. So I just rattle their treat bag any time I need to get them back to their cages, like if they’ve gotten into something they shouldn’t or if their playtime in the living room is over and they’re being stubborn hiding behind the sofa or something. (I always deliver on the promise of a treat.)
