i just got my sweet Willow spayed last tuesday (10/11) and she 2 days later she pulled out her staples. i went to the vet and she gave her some medicine, one that she would take no problem and the other she wouldn’t. it’s been a few days and i kept checking it every couple hours to see if she was again. i looked today and it looks like it’s a little infected, but i’m no expert so i can’t tell judgement. i want to go to the vet but she HATES car rides and holds a grudge against me for days after we get home so i’m trying to see if there’s anyone who can give me an answer before i take her?! please help!!!

I don’t think it looks infected. The tissue colour looks good and there doesn’t appear to be any exudate. Id just keep an eye on that redder part in the middle. You could email your photo to the clinic for peace of mind.

Does she have an appointment coming up to remove the staples?

p.s. I inserted the photo for you. After you upload a file as an attachment, there is an “insert image” icon next to the file name. Just click on that and the photo will go in the body of the post.

Kassidy – I would do as Jersey suggests – phone the clinic and ask to send the photo by email.

In the event of “‘Safe bunny versus bunny with grudge” I know which I’d choose… I know you would too, but just saying….

It looks good to me. Bad things are seepage, undue swelling, excessive redness. I see none of that. You can also smell the wound, it shouldn’t smell (infected wounds tend to smell bad).

Willow never has let me pick her up/cuddle her so i doubt i’d be able to touch or smell her incision, unfortunately. i emailed the vet that picture and they haven’t gotten back to me, but so far i’ve heard that it looks fine

I’m not a vet but that looks pretty normal to me.
