Hi, our bunny is starting to get dark spots on his body. In the picture, you can see on his back, it is a darker color now. Should I be concerned or is he changing colors. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, that colour change is perfectly normal He is shedding his coat and sometimes when that happens you’ll notice a change in coat colour (mostly depending on age and the colour of your rabbit). All is well and it’s nothing to worry about

My computer isn’t letting me see the picture, but from what you described, I believe that he is just changing colors due to seasons and molting. As long is it is just his fur that is changing, and it’s not irritating him, I believe that he is fine. If he’s been going through a molt recently, that is probably the reason for the change. If not, I still doubt that he is sick, as I have not yet heard of an illness that causes fur to change colors. It is also possible that, as I stated above, it’s just because the seasons are changing.

Looks like normal shedding to me. If he is young, his color will likely evolve as he ages and loses his “baby coat”. Older rabbits can experience changes in their coat color as well, but it’s generally not as dramatic as the loss of the baby coat is.

Your bun looks a similar colour to my Bramble was when he was wee, he went through a dramatic colour change to almost grey at one point then settled on a darker brown with the odd black area so it looks normal to me
