I’m fostering a cat (post soon to tell you all about it ) and he was outside and has ear mites He got a treatment of Revolution a few days ago. There is a lot of yucky debris in his ears. He went to the vet yesterday to get neutered and checked out but they didn’t even clean his ears. Is there anything I can do to clean his ears out? I read baby oil? Any suggestions?

Also, are cat ear mites the same mites that bunnies can get?

I’ve had cats pretty much all my life but have been fortunate in never having to deal with mites before.

        Thanks for any help. :

Same and similar mites. Yes, you can use an oil to clean them. For a cat I would use olive or mineral oil and swab gently. Possibly some common saline drops first to loosen anything deep.

You can use baby oil or a diluted vinegar solution to remove the debris. I use a doused cotton ball– just be cautious for his eyes.

For a formerly outside cat, you might need another dose of Revolution next month.
