Hello!! Me and my boyfriend are brand new bunny owners of the sweetest little 2 month old dwarf bunny that we love to death. We’ve done lots of research and of course are still learning as we go, but we just want to make sure that it’s normal for Mimi to be sneezing as much as she does. I’ve noticed that it’s when she’s eating her hay (meadow hay) and when she’s cleaning herself, so I’ve more or less associated it with that and maybe something is just tickling her nose. However, she has these 10 second long fits like 5 times a day and i just want to make sure it’s ok! There’s no discharge or anything like that either.

Thanks for any help you all can give!!

          Welcome!

Is the hay you have very dusty at all?

If it is, you could try shaking it off outside or giving each “serve” a light misting of water.
Or perhaps try a different variety of hay?

Do you use any wood products in her habitat?

I haven’t noticed it to be too dusty, and there are these all natural wood pellets that when she goes to the bathroom they expand and break down.. maybe that’s making her nose itch?

I saw your photo of her in this thread: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/149171/afnp/498284/Default.aspx

Cute little baby!! I love her subtle grey stripes. : )

Wood pellets are safe to use but some rabbits might be more sensitive then others. It looks like you use a pelleted paper in her cage also. I would trial taking out the wood pellets and using just the paper ones in her litter box. Also, there’s no need to line the whole base with them. That just makes rabbits think the whole cage is the toilet.

I noticed a piece of corn in the pic. Is the food you give a mix of grain, seeds, pellets? If so, try looking for a plain pellet suitable for young rabbits rather then these mixes. There’s more info on recommended diet under the BUNNY INFO tab at top of the page.
