I just brought home a new bunny from the shelter, and am trying to pick a name and guess his adult size. His mother was dropped off pregnant, and according to staff “was of typical bunny size.” He is four months old and feels like he weighs maybe 2 or 3 pounds.

Name suggestions welcome! So far we have Desparoux, Brownie and Cocoa but I would love additional name ideas.

I cant give breed advice but ohhh my lord those ears!!! ^.^
            So cute!
I’d say maybe Ozark(Ozzie for short) (Ozark are an endangerd species of long eared bats in the US)
Although Desparoux is a very gorgeous name all the same!

He’s not a Rex, but I don’t know what breed he is. He sure is handsome! Thank you for adopting from a shelter. I think sometimes you have to live with a rabbit for a few days, before the right name comes to you. But there are members here who come up with good suggestions, so hopefully some more people will chime in.

Thank you! I’m pretty sure he’s got some lop in him because at least one of his huge ears sometimes falls down and then pops back up again. So maybe Rex plus Holland lop? His face seems too narrow to have any mini-lop in him. I’m so curious how big he’s going to end up. It seems like from distant memory bunnies are mostly full grown by 4-6 months, but looking at him it doesn’t seem like he’s grown into his body yet – but then again it might just be those ears

Our current leading name contestant is Jasper, but we’re going keep thinking about it and exploring possibilities for a couple of days.

He’ll still be growing. From 3 1/2 months old, Bandit doubled in weight to his adult size.

He is just gorgeous though, lovely colour, big ears and of course that adorable face I’m not sure on breed either but he’s certainly very cute.

He is a gorgeous colour. Checking out those ears I reckon he could keep on growing some !! My Zou stopped growing at about a year I think (and some !)

You could go the obvious ‘Choccie’ route, or call him Vanilla (Ice Ice Baby!) just to get people talking !!
Or brand of chocolate? Nesquik (Quicky?) Hershey? Hersh?
Indy ? He’s got a little indian spot in his forehead….

Oh my god he’s sooooo cuuuute! I love brown bunnies! I have no idea what breed he is but he’s adorable!

Name suggestions: Swiss Miss (maybe that’s better for a female…), Mocha, Coconut, (hmm..I must be hungry…), Jasper, Garnet, Cafe, Terry (like terrestrial…because of land…and dirt is brown..yeah).

He looks like a Toffee to me.

Hmm… I’m guess probably not Holland lop mix. Maybe mini lop mix? He sounds like he’s going to be a mid-sized bunny. Plus his face shape matches a mini lop. Mini lops are 6-ish lbs. He’s probably mixed with another mid-sized breed or two.

Hmm, I’ll try to get a side shot. We have a mini lop, and his face is much flatter and wider. New bunny’s mouth and nose is much longer and narrower. I’m glad to hear he will likely get bigger. Medium is fine, I was just starting to worry he was part Netherland dwarf or something. But his ears are too big.

                          Loving all the name suggestions!

That looks like a mini lop face to me. Hollands have the flat face. Are you in the US? They call something else a mini lop in Europe.

                              Maybe he’s mixed with Havana?

Fascinating! You are right, Holland lops do appear to usually have very flat faces. This website has nice side-by-side pictures. My prior Holland lops were probably not purebred, and an exception, or maybe it’s a Western U.S. thing.

Our mini lop looks a lot like the pictures shown. I’m not really sure what this one most looks like. Ah, well, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see how big he gets.
