I have recently purchased a new digging area for my rabbits it is almost 2x2metres though not very deep. Just wondering how deep I should make it? I was putting it in the corner of their run and not have a bottom on it and just fill it with dirt and let them dig all they want, but its on the fence of the neighbours and on one side they cant dig under but the other side they might be able to without the bottom. So I will have to make a bottom just want to know how deep before I put it on and add the dirt. Thank you for any suggestions

I think however deep you want will be fine. Domestic rabbits aren’t likely to try to build a burrow, so just enough for some playful digging should be fine. Do make sure the dirt is pesticide free.

I wouldn’t make it too deep. I have heard of some pet rabbits digging in and having their burrows collapse on them. I should think that 1 foot deep should be plenty for them to scratch around and make shallow scrapes and burrows, but not deep enough for any really serious digging.
