Hi! I’m new here. Got my baby girls Donna and Harvey about 3 weeks ago. I’m worried Donna is skinny. My hub says she looks fine and that I’m overreacting it’s just that she’s smaller than her sis. The vet wasn’t concerned. He just said to keep an eye on her. She eats fine, although she eats slower than her sis but I make sure she gets her share. She’s happy, active and playful but just very slim. I can feel her spine when petting her. Could this just be her age? (She’s about 16 weeks old) Will she fill out or are some buns just skinnier than others?
Sorry for all the questions!! And thanks in advance for any help xx

It is normal to feel a buns spine. If you feel she is overweight, talk to your vet, and ask if you can increase the pellets by a bit.

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny!

Since your bunnies are 4 months old, you may have to separate them very soon, as they will be entering puberty. That can bring a lot of changes and the onset of hormones can bring aggression and that can lead to fighting and injuries. After their spay surgeries, then a month of recuperation and waiting for all the hormones to be flushed out, you can start rebonding them. Young bunnies can get along fine, but when they hit puberty, you can have trouble.

Are you positive that they are the same sex? Even vets have gotten that wrong. Many people have ended up with unwanted litters after being told that they had the same sex rabbits. So, that is another reason to separate them. But, even if they are the same sex and sisters, they should be separated until after their surgeries.

Here are 2 good articles on bonding:

Can you post pictures of each bun? It is normal to feel the spine of a bun when petting, but you shouldnt feel it when petting very lightly. How are her hips?
